Vettefan Posted May 11, 2023 Posted May 11, 2023 Hi, I am coming back to the Apache after a couple months and noticed that I need to take off and land with pretty much no rudder input. This is totally different compared to my past experience with this awesome bird and feeling a "bit weird". I am running the latest open beta and checked my settings: I am NOT in "Game Mode" but all on full "simulator" settings. Question: Is there an "auto-rudder" setting I may have overlooked or did ED change the flight model also in this way that this is expected and normal now? ... I am just confused... THANKS!!
Solution Floyd1212 Posted May 11, 2023 Solution Posted May 11, 2023 There was a patch a while back that changed the "neutral" position of the tail rotor blade pitch. (I'm sure you can find some discussions about it if you search a bit.) This change means there is now less pedal input needed for a given amount of thrust at the tail than there was. In addition, the SAS is providing some assistance if you pull gently into a hover. Even if you have your feet off the pedals, you can see the green mark giving it a little left pedal for you when needed.
Vettefan Posted May 12, 2023 Author Posted May 12, 2023 Thanks, @Floyd1212! Now that you mention it, I also saw this new area in some newer YouTube videos, but apparently just did not really notice it before, nor recall seeing it in the past patch notes. Thanks for your explanation.
