Strained Spars Posted June 5, 2023 Posted June 5, 2023 (edited) The problem: When DCS is running all of my USB devices are recognized but least 2 do not respond. (Only with DCS running example Elite Dangerous works fine) If I unplug/plug(or rescan) the non responsive input is recognized but still no inputs are detected. (when taking the screenshots my rudder pedals, Arduino controller, and both of my MFD's did not work. The previous game launch with no physical changes it was my stick and 1 MFD. It never seems to repeat or have a common culprit. All USB inputs are detected and work correctly through windows game controller setting. They all worked for at least 6 months with no changes being made. As soon as I close DCS all inputs work correctly, if I open it again they stop working again. Nothing other than updates to windows and DCS when problem began(updated graphics drives tonight as a last ditch effort). The background: I have played this game since 2018 with the occasional issues that we have most all ran across. I have usually waited 2 weeks and searched the forums and found answers or the issues were automatically corrected from ED/Windows update etc. This problem has come about after not having the time to take to the skies for almost 2 months. No hardware or software changes have been made. I have checked that all USB drivers are updated, windows, DCS, video drivers are up to date and installed all windows optional drivers, thinking perhaps it was a windows problem over DCS until I tried Elite Dangerous with success. Any help to get this resolved would be greatly appreciated. I will provide answers as fast as I can, but please understand I am not always to my computer but will be as prompt as possible. I did not know of what files to attach as there is no error/crash etc. Thanks for any help, Prod Edited June 5, 2023 by Strained Spars removal of null
Strained Spars Posted June 27, 2023 Author Posted June 27, 2023 I have now completely boot loaded and reinstalled all warthog throttle and joystick drivers, firmware updates and have removed all USB hubs from the equation. I have the click button of the slew on the throttle set as my Track IR center button and as DCS is loading and the 2nd light on the transmitter turns on showing the game is recognized it stops working, then as soon as DCS closes it works just fine again. The throttle as well as the MFD's will not work as axis or buttons unless I unplug the Joystick then it will function again as normal until the Joystick is plugged back in then it will cease to function again. This process seems to be repeating now without being random as it was before. I do not use or launch the game in the TARGET software. Any help or suggestions of what to look into would be appreciated as I have not been able to play for months now and am missing the game. Thanks
rob10 Posted June 27, 2023 Posted June 27, 2023 (edited) Check that you don't have something on the joystick assigned as a modifier/switch. That might be why things don't work only when it's attached. you could try assigning something to one of your other devices while it's attached and if that works would suggest it could be creating a modifier. Strained Spars Posted June 29, 2023 Author Posted June 29, 2023 I will look into that when I am home tonight. I do not use the Thrustmaster programming software so it will just taking some time searching through for modifiers and/or rebinding. Thanks for the suggestion. I will update with results.
Strained Spars Posted August 27, 2023 Author Posted August 27, 2023 (edited) No dice. I have removed all bindings and DCS will still not accept any axis or button press of the throttle yet shows it as there and windows and other games it works fine. I also did a repair of DCS long version and archived any differences found. Any other ideas. Edited August 28, 2023 by Strained Spars Spelling

A better tool for checking you're devices is Virpil's joystick tester. Even if you don't have any Virpil devices. Also try to rename your DCS folder in Saved Games. Cheers!
Strained Spars Posted August 28, 2023 Author Posted August 28, 2023 I appreciate the suggestions. I have tried rescan as well as physically disconnect/reconnecting them with the game opened and closed. Which folder specifically are you referring to rename. I would just like to make sure we are talking about the same thing.

Under Saved Games, DCS or DCS.openbeta If that fixes it you can copy the folders back from the backup until you find the faulty one.
Strained Spars Posted September 1, 2023 Author Posted September 1, 2023 No joy. Still shows the throttle but will not recognize any axis or buttons. Thanks for the idea to try.
Solution Strained Spars Posted January 18, 2024 Author Solution Posted January 18, 2024 Just to close this thread. I built a new computer so.. problem solved. I did notice when installing everything again that there was a note somewhere on the TrackIR website about there being a known issue with USB. Good luck to any others that come across this scenario. I can not provide any other info. Thanks to those who answered.
