borchi_2b Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 @rattler: it makes a huge diffence whe it is stolen, cause the rights are belonging to somebody else. that is law wise the fact if it is stolen. 2nd, if you steal somebodies work, you are liar and when somebody steals your work, after you have put hundreds of hours into a work and somebody steals it, you are close to kill that person. believe me http://www.polychop-sims.com

If there is no Patent, No Copywrite, No agreement signed at purchase. Then no law has been broken. Now Modders offer their work for free and unless there is a statement on how their work is to be used then no law is broken. It is an unwritten law on these forums that credit be given to who every has something that is used in another mod. That is a courtesy shown on these forums only and has no validity to the law. You have no rights if you give your work for free use by anyone who you make it available to. In other words you upload your mod for free use by this or any community or modder. NOW: I agree that if you use a modders work in your mod you show him a courtesy by mentioning his contribution to your mod. If you Purchase a product and mod it and put it up as your own work then if the patent laws, copywrite laws and agreements on useage are in effect Then you can be sued. If you gain permission from said companies in writing then you break no laws. In other words the company is giving you a waiver to use their work as you wish. I am sure that no modder would put himself in that position. If he does then he pays for the conseqences of his action. Not for us to judge whether he has permisson or not. We can not assume one is breaking the law, we need proof or it is just speculation and to do that, as far as I am concerned is wrong. So I would be careful where I point a fingure because if your accusations are wrong then you are liable in the eyes of the law. There are several points of law you could be held liable for for making false statements. So be very careful what you say. You strike the Right Person and you will be the one in trouble. There is nothing to say that a modder has to show any proof for his work on any forums. Further more should he have to. If he breaks the law the Company will take the appropriate action. Not for us to judge ahead of time. Now can we let this drop please. This is getting nowhere. We wait till the mod comes out. Then the proof will be there for all to see.
