  1. Thanks a lot for your concearn. We will take your opinion into concideration.
  2. So, all I seeon my phone watching the video, is an amraam chasing a target with an already cold aspect at a relativly high altitude in a valley. Just because there is a mountain somewhere in the far background does not imply that a self homing missile will loose guidance or that you suddenly disappear in a ground clutter. The distance to the ground will also determine the ammount of noise. The monopulse radar of the aim120c has a range of 12 to 16km / 6 to 8nm, depends on the puplic source. The further you are from the "wall" and the less the noise, the better the monopulse will be able to compute your position. A 3 second turn below the horizon will not help you, esspecially when you are a clear distictable target on a cold aspect. Using groundclutter and notch against modern medium range missiles as effective defense is a myth, which any RL fighter pilot will tell you is wrong. There is only 2 ways against bvr missiles since the mid 90ties. outrun or outturn/outenergy the missile. notch/chaff/groundclutter filters are parts of the systems avionics and software, which are values the engeneers can compute and have done. Maneuvers are something they can only predict and modern missiles only have x ammount of kinetic energy, exempt the meteor that runs on a engine and will adjust its speed all the time for a perfect intercept as long it has fuel, after thier motor burned out at x altitude, which is something pilots can work with. But keep in mind, RL does not have a replay button. Most likely pilots will not react to missiles like the gamers do for many reasons. That said, to defend against the missile in your video, you have to be waaaay lower, maneuver a lot more and put a ton of chaffs into the air. Ohh and if you had the feeling, you did defeat the missile, because your rwr stopped talking to you, all rwr systems have a rwr gimbal limit. If you exceed the angle between the radar threat and your rwr will it go silent after x seconds and will also need a certain time to refresh, even though the radarthreat might be back in the gimbal limits. Happy fighting
  3. @GGTharoscan you specify what you mean by seeker settling? Neverheard of it in combination with the 4 component monopulse radar of the amraam. The maneuvers in specific, should not affect the missile as much at all. according to the radar contact locked by the 120 radar, the software will always calculate the best intercept course to bring the missile into its fragmentation basket/cone or even a direct hit might be imminent. beaming/notching/cold targets are very likely to be hit by the shrapnel and head on aspects, do to a higher closure, are very likely to have direct impacts.
  4. The AIM120 uses a monopulse radar, not a doppler radar for its terminal guidance, which is split into 4 segments, do to a 3d tracking. Further, a littlebit of info on the Amraam which can be found on the internet. In 1996, the AIM-120C missile was delivered to service. It was created within the framework of Phase 1 of the P3I (Pre-Planned Product Improvement, Phase 1) comprehensive upgrade program. UR differed from the reduced to 447 mm wingspan and plumage. This made it possible to place six (not four, as in the case of the AIM-120A and AIM-120B) AMRAAM missiles in the cargo bay of the F-22A Raptor, as well as reduced aerodynamic resistance (which, however, was achieved due to some deterioration of the maneuverability characteristics of the UR). The missile received an improved guidance system WGU-44/B, the mass of BC was reduced to 18 kg (while maintaining the same efficiency). In 1998, the AGM-120C-4 BC with the advanced WDU-41B fuse was created. In 2000, the deliveries of AIM-120C-5 (for export) and AIM-120C-6 (for use in the U.S. Armed Forces) variants, created as part of Phase 2 of the upgrade (P3I-2), began. The missiles were equipped with new software that provides better resolution as well as increased interference immunity to WGSN. Another important improvement was the introduction of more compact aerodynamic rudder drives, which made it possible to extend the fuel charge by 127 mm (and, in turn, increase the missile's range up to 105 km).

  6. Well if you go for 80ties solution, then you should have mentioned that before. Fillig the slots and then pulling a move like that, and have all the f16 that are signed up for the a2a role being pants down with aim9 only, well, dick move. Sorry to say so. 14th VFS Samurais will talk about it tomorrow if we continue to participate in Red Flag. Uncool move, all I can say. F14 still have the Aim7 to fight with, so not a biggy that they can not use the aim54. They should have enough support form the F16 and F18 to make some lills without their telephonebox sized missiles
  7. Hi, does anyone know which helmet texture is used for the viper pilot and where it is located? Thanks
  8. Guys, keep it civil. that goes to all of you. This topic is getting close to the risc of getting closed as many other topics where people pound on a topic ofver and over and over again. This goes out to @Fri13 @Alec Delorian @outlawal2. What is your point on jumping on every discussion about the gazelle and turn it into a "shit show" each time ? This is more aimed at Fri and Alec! I keep it professional as much as you let it flow from your side, but at some point, topics get closed because you dive into it over and over and over again. Seriously guys. You guys invest so much time in typing novels of posts, but it seems like you either do not want to read, that the gazelle will be updated, or you simple do ignore it. You rather then talk about the whole Polychop Team, try to convince the community that we are a bunch of idiots and do not know what we talk about, including the team of SMEs we have around constantly for the projects and you neglect that even we as a team and developers evolve and create better stuff. I am personally sick and tired to constantly see shitshows of single individuals on the forum, which is why I am reading here maybe once per week only. Sorry, but people wonder why I personally do not concider the forum as tier 1 information platfoirm, there you have the reason. Common sense, and respect shared between eachother should be to common code of conduct, even here. So if you guys do not get this solved, this topic is gettigng closed, like so many others. Maybe you realise once, that you hurt the community more then help the community with, from my perspective, some sort of personal vendetta. Please stop this, because as I mentioned it two lines before, it does not help. Aswell, maybe, as open and honest we are, also not only point fingers at us, but also understand and read aswell what we have stated on multiple platforms. 9. @Alec Delorian: You are also invited to join Low Level Hell discord and discuss with real helicopter pilots there all day helicopter theories with people from all ofver the world. It is very enjoyable as long you stay reasonable and nice
  10. I do understand what you mean. The fm update will also fix the problem of the cyclic of the gazelle. no worries. Still i have first hand evidence that a kiowa was flown hands of straight at safe altitude perfectly trimmed. the pilot is still able to give evidence of it. By that note I had done simikar with the huey ingame ;)
  11. @outlawal2: A helicopter will fly straight in no wind conditions as soon it is perfectly trimmed out. There are even videos on youtube where you can see such as evidence. I have seen one video where a father flys with his teen son a bell47 and he has no hands on the controlls for 2 or 3 minutes in the video or if he did corrections, he did a small input and hed the cyclic rest in its trimmed position again without touching anything. To add ontop, the guy had some gust winds aswell. After having seen this video over a year ago, I called one of the SMEs and asked him if this would be possible with the kiowa warrior aswell, guess his answer? His answer was, if the Kiowa Warrior would have been perfectly trimmed, and no external forces like wind, would push the helicopter out of its trimmed position, it would fly in a straight level line until the engine runs out of fuel, which is roughly 8% of remaining fuel, where the fuelpump is not able to suck the remaining fuel out of the gastank. ;)
  12. @Fri13, feel free to join the Low Level Hell Discord and bring up that topic and what you wrote under your nice little graphic. I assure you, you will recieve a lot of answers from real helicopter pilots on your false assumptions how a helicopter should fly, turn and so ever. I can only recommend you join there. The guys are generally nice and talk to anyone, as long you are not behaving out of the line.
  13. @FRI13: The implementions of whjat the AI pilot can already do are good enough in my opinion. Your micromanagement of you position, you can do at any time manually. About the Gazelle and an AI pilot ???? I do not see where we have mentioned that we are going to integrate that to the Gazelle, how do you come up with we "should" backport this to the Gazelle ? Should, would, could, have to or must???? Seriously.
  14. Fri13, We as a team hear your feedback, no worries. There was a reason why I posted it just as a small info only on one channel, discord. I recieve constantly via discord or facebook a daily messege with the main question" when will it release?". My intention was, because I did not know yet how long it would take to find a solution to the issue by the time I posted it, to let the hardcore fans or discord users, which are part of the community know, that we were hitting an obsticle that was serious. I am also asked weekly, when the next stream will happen and so on. Even virtual air nation had an idea and asked me if we would want to pull this off, a airshow wioth the Kiowa Warrior in which nearly the whole team of us devs and the SMEs fly. I cancelled all these plans on that day on my side aswell for now, cause we had no idea how long it will take. So we try to communicate to the community as open as we can, or choose to do for numerous reasons. Yes this forum can be conciderred as gate 1 to the customer, sure, but as we all know, this forum hosts a lot of people, some are cool, some are not so cool, each character for its own, no problem, but I did not want to kick off a huge discussion about what went wrong, pitchforks flying in all directions that mutate during the flightphase to a H bombs, as it very likely happens in this forum by 98% of bad news. So my post was sigled out only on discord, to not be to loud, but for the people that want to know every little bit of what we do, or interact with us directly and some of our SMEs, I wanted to at least be openminded and let them know with a friendly messege "guys, we have a brik wall here to tear dwon, we only have small hammers, we do not know how long we will be stuck infront of the wall, but eventually we will tear down that brickwall!" I can only ensure you, that DrummerNL/ Daan is doing a great job communicating to the community as "white house" speaker and I am happy to have him around and call him a freind. But even he has a private life, and things happen, like loosingh a friend, work stuff, family, and so on. As you have been able to witness during the past year, if it was really important that we felt everyopne has to know, Daan posted it across all 3 mainchannels of our communication tool, ED forum, FB, Discord. You will not miss any info, I can guarantee you that, just some channels are happening later or sometimes not at all, for reasons as mentioned above about that "little" announcements I made last week. I try to think of better solutions for next time, at least on my side. Sven
