help with x52 proflie

Can anyone help a noob out with a good x52 profile. I'm having a hell of a time learning how to operate this thing.

 

main problem right now is learning how to use the weapons. maybe a good lesson would do me better.

murdoc -- I have a decent and easy profile for you to use. I usually hang out at the www.ka50.com server in the evenings with a handful of other misfits. If you go and sign up - look for me on Teamspeak and I'lll get it over to you. Will also help walk you through a few things. I am by no means an expert but can probably help ya out.

what exactly are you trying to do with the weapons release?

 

there is an issue with the X52 and the 2nd indent and the way it is handled in the profile.

 

i don't know if the latest beta profile/driver software takes care of it but basically the software i am using the (latest official) doens't allow very easily the use of the 2nd indent for weapons release. Because of that i have moved the weapons release to Fire and the 2nd indent just isn't used.

I stick weapons release under the safety flipper, and use the trigger for guns (first stage select gun - second fire gun). Admittedly a little different to the mapping on the real cyclic, but that will always be the case with an X52 :)

I think what I'm really asking is for like an easy to read tutorial explaining the motions for activating, switching, using weapons and how to properly use the shkval and whats the best method for assigning the shkval controls to the x52 among other things.

murdoc311 - I can tell you how I have my controls set up if that's any use? I don't think it's perfect but it's a good start. As I said in the other thread, I've made all these assignments in Black Shark - and used a blank x52 profile with the mouse buttons, clutch, and shift key all unassigned.

 

So on the stick/cyclic I have:

Main trigger: Push half way to select gun, push all the way in to fire gun.

Launch button (under the safety flipper): Release weapon.

Hat 1 (the main round one): Slew shkval (this works better if you set the hat to 4-way in the saitek profile editor).

Hat 2 (the one with paddles): Up/Down: shkval 23x/7x 'zoom'. Left/Right: Shkval tracking stuff.

Button 'A': Uncage shkval.

Button 'B': Center shkval.

Button 'C': Trim.

Pinky button: Autohover.

 

The row of toggle buttons at the bottom of the stick I have set to target panel functions:

Toggle 1 Up: Laser on/off

Toggle 1 Down: Turn on target

Toggle 2 Up: Air Moving target

Toggle 2 Down: Ground Moving target

Toggle 3 Up: Helmet-mounted sight toggle

Toggle 3 Down: Reset targetting

 

On the throttle/collective I have:

Slider: Throttle

Dial 1: Wheel break

Hat: Weapon select - see the real KA-50 collective hat for assignments

Mousewheel roller: Shkval target window size + and -

Mouse button 1: Collective break

Button D: Lock target

Button E: Reset trim

Clutch button: Descend

 

 

I think that's everything. I use TrackIR for view, freeing the hats up for functions. Autopilot, and gun select etc I currently do in the cockpit, but am looking to bind some of this to the dials etc.

 

Also, if you're going for maximum relation to the real ka-50 assignments, my example is a bit of a mess.

dont' get too discouraged, setting up your controls how you like them will take time.

 

i suggest getting a profile and then editing it as a starting point.. These types of Sims/Games have a high learning curve, don't expect to jump in with a profile in a game like blackshark and immediately be fluent in the controls, even your own X52.

 

with that being said the best way to really learn your controls is to build your own profile either in game or out of game. and then go fly, and test, and by the end of a couple of weeks you will be fluent in your controls of not only the blackshark but also of your joystick.

 

just take it slow and have fun, learning and setting up can be half the fun.

 

As far as where to start, look in the manual at the Collective/Cyclic control listing with the pictures and descriptions.. That will give you a great starting point at how you may want ot setup your X52. Then as you learn and fly you'll find other functions you want to remove/add etc. There is no real tutorial except on how to make a profile.

 

Personally i tried to make my profile as close to the original Ka-50 controls as possible, but that isn't for everyone..

 

just dive in and have fun :)

You have to go into the profile editor, click on view to see the whole table (not just one mode + picture of stick), then delete any shift-states by hitting the cross. Once nothing is set to shift using pinky-switch, you will see its row change from blueish-grey to white - now it will bind properly in the game.
