eFirehawk Posted June 26, 2023 Posted June 26, 2023 Hi everyone, I'm loving the module so far, props to Razbam. It was definitely worth the wait. What the is highest 'usually acceptable' weight for the aircraft for landing? Theoretically, if the jet takes off with maximum takeoff weight and gets called back to base right after takeoff, would it be realistic to force the jet to land with all that weight or would the pilots dump fuel in order to go back and land with less stress on the airframe and gear? A relevant question is also, what would be considered a 'stupidly high' weight that would not be reasolable for a sortie? Max Gross Weight should be 81 000 lbs (36 741 kg) for Flight Ops / Ground Ops / Landing just keep in mind the Feet Per Minute "sink rate" limitations during landings: 600 FPM till 35000 Lbs decreasing to near 290 FPM at 81000 Lbs. Honestly I don't know if simulated on our DCS F15E platform. ciao Pokeraccio Forum: Pokeraccio F/A-18C Hornet - Weapons QRH Quick Reference Handbook / Checklist / Kneeboard User Files: Pokeraccio F/A-18C Hornet - Weapons QRH Quick Reference Handbook / Checklist / Kneeboard User Files: Spitfire LF Mk.IX QRH / Checklist / Pilot's Note Kneeboard by Pokeraccio
KlarSnow Posted June 27, 2023 Posted June 27, 2023 As long as you meet the sink rate limit there is no max landing weight upto 81,000 lbs. If you are looking for a rule of thumb, the normal desired landing weight is no more than 1,000 lbs of fuel plus ordnance per 1,000 feet of runway. So if you are landing on a 10,000 foot long runway, try to be below 10,000 lbs combined stores and fuel. This is primarily so you aren't landing too fast, and can actually stop comfortably on the runway without hot brakes or blown tires, or requiring a cable (not modelled int DCS). 2 1
