Richrach
The satellite setting in the F10 map in the Syrian campaign renders water, specifically lakes, as brown. Google earth shows satellites see water as blue, green, or shades thereof. Sure would be nice to be able to use satellite view to distinguish between water and the ground around it. - Richrach
Mars Exulte
Lighting, local conditions, recent weather, and algae levels and type all influence this, probably among others. Water is not necessarily ''blue'' and inland lakes do indeed tend to be green or brown due to sediment and algae. They can also be red or pink, for that matter. 5 Де вороги, знайдуться козаки їх перемогти. 5800x3d * 3090 * 64gb * Reverb G2
Dragon1-1
It does, however they also look blue at times, and it would be more useful to have them contrast the ground. That's the point, the satmap can use any one of those colors without losing realism.
Mars Exulte
Well, technically the satmap should tend to look like whatever it actually looks like, as it is a satellite image. If there's ambiguity or uncertainty the other map shows water simply as blue. 2 Де вороги, знайдуться козаки їх перемогти. 5800x3d * 3090 * 64gb * Reverb G2
Dragon1-1
In that case, they should be blue, because all DCS water is blue. IRL, the lakes change color according to season (and how much waste is being dumped in them), but we don't have that in DCS.
