July 4th Fireworks over the Strip For Nevada Map (Hidden Feature Nice to Have)

It would be a Nice To Have (It may already be in the game) But if not... please add a Hidden Feature That if you set the Date and time(21:100) in the Nevada Map, That A short lets say 5 min Fireworks display pops off over the Las Vegas Strip. Have it repeat lets say 4 times randomly  between 21hrs and 22hrs. This Fire works show only works when the actual data along with the in-game date is July 4 20xx

This means if a user just make s a July 4th mission and the actual date is not the 4th there will be no show.

It would be really cool to drive a combine arms ground unit,  or even fly  a helicopter down to the  strip

Just an idea

My mission is to fly, fight, and win. o-:|:-o What I do is sometimes get a tin of soup, heat it up, poach an egg in it, serve that with a pork pie sausage roll.

Why not just do it yourself? We have flares, and you can set them up to fire at any time, in any quantity. There are even tools available that can make this trivial.

Ok, so not to just big-mouth off (as I allegedly often do, according to someone dear to me but who does not always agree with me), here's a demo (proof of concept). The magic is in the trigger zones. Copy/paste them willy-nilly along the strip and they will all start producing fire works inside them. The mission starts the show 1 second after mission start for you.

To embellish, look for these trigger zones, and copy/paste them

If you want to play with how much fireworks they produce, look into the trigger zone's attributes

Each attribute controls in the "Value" field:

  • flare - color of the flare. 'rnd' means random. Also understands red, blue, white, yellow.
  • launch? - the flag that signals the start of the show. Here I use the flag named 'go'. show starts when that flag changes its value. Done for you in this mission after 1 second
  • direction - in which direction (in degrees) to launch a flare. 1-355 means a random value between 1° and 355°
  • salve - how many flares to launch. here 1000
  • duration - how much time do we have to launch the salvo. Here 100 to 360 seconds
  • agl - how many METERS above the ground to launch the flares (if you place them on buildings)

If you are wondering about the strange 'place stuff with trigger zones and control it with text' - that's the DML way of mission tinkering. Took me a good five minutes to assemble this, so handle with loving care 🙂

Thanks. Yes I know we could do a thing with the mission editor. But the point was for it to be something special that happened to the map just because.

Yes, we can put statics at the Airports to give a base the look of life and make trucks drive around... all in the mission editor. But the programmers can do that for use as well.

They have an acurate star chart and Sun/Moon cycle built in the game. So adding a special neat treat for the user based on the clock and calander would be kinda cool.

But again thanks for showing us how to do it... that was not the request. The request was to make something neat and special happen on the map should the user setup a night mission the Nevada map on that date during those times... I think some call the easter's Eggs

Ah, well. Then again, I think that by the mere fact that you openly requested this, it can't - by definition - be an "Easter egg" any more, merely a "user-requested feature". Anyway, I was (again) surprised by just how unimpressive fireworks look from the sky. YMMV.
