I have reinstalled three times, in different directories....

No reason to install with Admin rights under Vista 64 SP1 in any event if not installed in Program Files.

Subsequent to the uninstall, did you manually delete all leftover files as well as clear the registry of all entries pertaining to ED/Black Shark?

OK,

My steeps,

1º Uninstall DCS BLACK SHARK

2º Go to "Program files" directory and delete "Eagle dynamics" directory and desktop shortcut.

3º Go to "REGEDIT" and search all "ka-50"... deleted all

4º Restart computer...

5º Install the game on new directory "C:/eagle dynamics/Ka-50/....."

I have the same problem in the Windows 7 Beta. Multiplayer works fine, but launching a mission in the single-player mode ends up with:

The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000142). Click OK to terminate the application.

I have a 8800 GTS with the latest NVidia Drivers (Beta of course as it's Windows 7) installed.

Do you guys have a clue what the problem is?

Solved it: a simple reboot made my day.... It's as simple as in the good ole Windows 95 days... ;)

I have the same problem it seems. I just installed Black Shark and all I get when I run the prog is a white screen with an error box saying that Launcher.exe has stopped working. I can run the Multi Player version, butI can't run the single player version. This is awfully frustration for a fresh install on my Vista64 platform.

Any solutions gratefully received.

Ta.

Monkshood, information on your system is required to help you.

White screen error is usually correlated to having an ATI card and Catalyst AI on. Turn that off. If the problem persists, drop to version 8.12 of the ATI driver suite.

Thanks Etheraln,

I'm not sure what Catalyst AI is and how to turn it off. I fiqure it's something to do with the ATI graphics card, but beyond that I don't know.

Any pointers gratefully received

Thanks,

First pointer is: information on your system is required to help you. At this time I know absolutely nothing about your computer, except that it runs Vista64. It is impossible to help you when I don't know anything about your computer. All I know at this time is that the error you report is closely associated with ATI cards and Catalyst AI being on.

Catalyst AI is a texture optimization tool within the ATI graphics drivers that looks to optimize the graphics to make the life of the GPU easier. (It has a CPU overhead though, reportedly.)

As for how to turn it off, it should be a selection somewhere in your ATI program suite. I cannot give you exact directions because I use nVidia cards, but you should be able to find directions in the documentation you got with your system.
