With the release of 9.1 a few weeks back, I uninstalled 8.12 and Installed 9.1 and ran into the now well-known issue of the Launcher error with Catalyst enabled. I then attempted to uninstall 9.1 and install 8.12 again, and for reasons unknown, failed. I somehow managed to get 8.11 installed and have been having issues ever since.

Somehow the 9.1 drivers have completely corrupted my O/S. To what extent I admittedly have absolutely no idea, suffice to say that any further attempts to install any drivers subsequent to the install/uninstall of 9.1 have met with no success whatsoever........

A frequent error which also occurs is that the screen resolution will automatically change to 800x600 (Default 1920x1200) and the only way to cure said error is with a complete system reboot.

With the release of 9.2 I decided to attempt an install with the vague hope that whatever problems that might have persisted before might be solved........Supreme Delusions of Grandeur!

Now with all previous driver uninstalls, what happened was that I first remove the driver by having regard to the 'Uninstall/Remove a Program' feature. The driver and attendant ATI folders are removed. I then reboot and upon rebooting, the system comes up with the usual - New Hardware is detected etc etc - referring to the GPU if I am not mistaken. I then manually delete all relevant Files left over from the uninstall, clean the registry and manually remove all ATI entries from the registry and reboot again. A consequence of this procedure is that the monitor is never at the optimal resolution upon reboot, ie 1920x1200, due to the fact of the absence of an ATI driver I always thought.

Once this is attended to I then install the new GPU driver and all is well - installation that is.

As said, I was running 8.11 until this morning when I decided to attempt a 9.2 install. I removed the old driver as per the procedure outlined above and rebooted. Upon restart I was met with the screen resolution of 1920x1200, which in my experience denotes the existence of an installed ATI driver - which should not be there as I just uninstalled it!!

Again - I confirm that I have uninstalled the driver, rebooted, manually deleted all ATI Folders in the Programs Folder as well as the Programs(X86) Folder and cleared the registry and rebooted again. No ATI program is listed in the list of installed programs under the Control Panel, but yet when I run 'dxdiag', a driver is listed:

Once the uninstallation as above is complete, I then attempted to install 9.2, and am met with the following error:

Admittedly and without embarrasment I am absolutely Clueless as to the cause of the above issues I am experiencing and as a consequence have no idea as to even attempt to begin to troubleshoot, short of a complete Format/OS reinstall.

Anybody got any idea of the Gremlin currently inhabiting my system?
