1130 Posted August 22, 2023 Posted August 22, 2023 (edited) just curious, seems the horizon is almost at the bottom of the hud when almost touchdown, then how about on the glideslope ? Where there the runway would be smaller. Edited August 22, 2023 by 1130 typo issue I miss the old days when Novalogic's Comanche Gold is on
Oesau Posted August 22, 2023 Posted August 22, 2023 (edited) It not perfectly aligned with the pilots eyes but this video is from the helmet perspective Edited August 22, 2023 by Oesau 2
Kalasnkova74 Posted August 22, 2023 Posted August 22, 2023 The F-4 lands using a combination of AoA and power. It’s an artifact of its naval origins. If you’re on speed (for a given fuel weight) & at correct Angle of Attack you’ll see the runway just fine. 2
G.J.S Posted August 22, 2023 Posted August 22, 2023 No problem viewing the landing area. Run the seat up if you were slightly smaller in stature (I classed myself as the worlds tallest midget ). 6 - - - The only real mystery in life is just why kamikaze pilots wore helmets? - - -

The historical artifact is that properly flying airplanes like that is in general more an exception than the norm it should be. 2
