Antiguedad Posted August 30, 2023 Posted August 30, 2023 In several missions wingman chopper is unable to take off and continue flight plan due to the excessive take off weight. Also in a couple of missions I had to call ground crew to reduce my own's chopper weight. The campaign is fun to play but these details break immersion a little, please revise initial take off weights.

In all missions, I chose the optimal weapon configuration and fuel supply for the task, in my opinion. When testing missions, this issue has always been given attention. With certain skills, takeoff is always possible. Also in almost all missions there is a good wind that helps. And I specifically left the opportunity to change weapons at your discretion. 1 Mi-8MTV2 The border campaign Ka-50 2 Pandemic campaign Mi-24P The border - prequel campaign Asus ROG Strix Z-590f, i7-11700K, SSD M2 NVME 2Tb, HDD 4Tb, RTX 3090, RAM 32GB, Meta Quest 3, Mi Redmi 3440x1440.
Antiguedad Posted August 30, 2023 Author Posted August 30, 2023 (edited) Main problem is with AI wingman. For example, in mission 10 player has S-8KOM HEAT/frag rockets and no problem taking off with 101% weight, but wingman has S-8OFP2 MPP rockets, which are heavier, and AI struggles taking off with 105% weight (maybe I'm wrong). Please revise loadout (rocket type) and weight, as I said, your campaign is very good. Edited August 30, 2023 by Antiguedad
=RAF=Armen Posted August 30, 2023 Posted August 30, 2023 When testing, there were no such problems with the slave. I will definitely take a look. Thanks for the high rating, I really appreciate it. JimmyWA Posted September 8, 2023 Posted September 8, 2023 In mission 3 the helicopter starts off overweight - beyond the flyable limit - and Im finding I have to reduce fuel and weapons before taking off. i9 12900KS, ASUS ROG Maximus Z790 APEX, 64 GB DDR5 4700 mhz, ASUS RTX4090, Water cooled, C - NVME SSD, DCS on NVME, TM HOTAS Warthog Stick (with extension) & Throttle, Crosswind rudder Pedals, 2 x Thrustmaster MFDs on LCD Screens, Varjo Aero VR, Logitech game controller
Solution Antiguedad Posted September 8, 2023 Author Solution Posted September 8, 2023 (edited) I think AI chopper crashes from FARPS was a general DCS bug with crosswinds, so it's not a campaign error, though in some mission maybe there is a puntual error with starting load. Sorry, it was not your fault. Edited September 8, 2023 by Antiguedad 1

I have the same problem with mission 3. I only figured out that the MI-24 was overloaded when stumbling upon this post. (Thanks JimmyWA) I have to reduce the weight by removing 2x rocket pods and fuel down to 40%, well below the max load, just to gain altitude. This maybe down to my inexperience. My AI wingman also has trouble getting off the ground. I'm enjoying the campaign which is challenging me to learn systems I've been to lazy to attempt. Edited September 11, 2023 by cocoNUTSnz
PoliticalPuffin Posted September 24, 2023 Posted September 24, 2023 Hi all, I think some of you are referring to the Mi24P 'Prequel' campaign, is that correct? On the briefing documents it shows that the helo is at 105% weight. However, the wind at T/O is straight into you at a fair rate. I've found that from the hover check, slowly pitching down gets you moving forward enough that eventually I can either just make it into 'clean air' and I start to lift, or the other way is to again pitch forward but do a lap around the FARP. As you very slowly pick up a small amount of speed you start to transition to flight and you gain some altitude relatively quickly. I am far from being expert at this. As you can see from earlier on I had to write 'helo' as I can't even spell helicopter Seriously though, what I'm trying to say is I am sure everyone reading this page is a far better pilot than I. I am quite awful but I found taking my time and gingerly making the small adjustments lets me get the helo up and transitioning to regular flight. I must also say that as I am a bit sh!t at all of this, I get a real boost of confidence and satisfaction making this work. I imagine real pilots have to make the aircraft operate at the edge of all the parameters and so it feels like an achievement for me to be able to do this. I hope this might help someone else not so great at the sim flying, like me. All the best, Dave (Puffin)
Antiguedad Posted September 24, 2023 Author Posted September 24, 2023 There are three separate things here, maybe: 1) Campaign taking off with 105% weight which is a little challenge but doable. 2) A discrete error with mission 3 loadout overweight. 3) A possible general DCS bug with choppers taking off from farps and crosswind.
jetsimace Posted September 30, 2023 Posted September 30, 2023 (edited) Also for me in missions 9 (11166 of max 11500kg) and 10 (11588 of max 11500kg), the Mi-24 was way too heavy loaded. I could barely lift off and could definitely not properly manuever and land+take-off again in this high-level mountainous area. Though I did not have the issue with my wingman not being able to take off. Edited September 30, 2023 by jetsimace
