GuntiNDDS Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 hi, was wondering what software and encoder you are using for making your blackshark movies. i got fraps, and it creates uncompressed avi files at huge file sizes :D i tried windows movie maker but it was very slow and the result looked crappy aswell :D
deadsmell Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 I recommend a program called virtual dub. its free and it works great. so after you capture with fraps, then you compress those files using virtual dub. Dont let the smell get to ya...............
GuntiNDDS Posted March 8, 2009 Author Posted March 8, 2009 yes i know virtual dub. what codec are you using tho ? xvid, vidx,.. whatever ?
deadsmell Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 xvid mpeg4. Dont let the smell get to ya...............
Airway Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 good results with xvid codec. Using Black Sharks internal movie tool is great. It's rendering nonrealtime what takes time (meanwhile you shouldn't touch it) but the results are good in quality.
GuntiNDDS Posted March 8, 2009 Author Posted March 8, 2009 i see. didnt knew it had an internal video tool. gotta have a look at it.
Majesco Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 (edited) hi, was wondering what software and encoder you are using for making your blackshark movies. i got fraps, and it creates uncompressed avi files at huge file sizes :D i tried windows movie maker but it was very slow and the result looked crappy aswell :D i always record Lock On movies with FRAPS => huge file sizes in .AVI format then, converting them into .WMV with Windows Media Encoder 9.0 4GB in AVI format can be converted = 60MB in .WMV format in 15 minutes, keep resolution = original resolution of source file Edited March 8, 2009 by Majesco
GuntiNDDS Posted March 8, 2009 Author Posted March 8, 2009 i was going to try windows media encoder, but couldnt find a vista64 version. thats why i tried the movie maker first :)
zokier Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 x264 is modern high-quality encoder. It's bit slower than Xvid though. Wouldnt recommend other (free) encoders.
