what video encoder are you using ?

was wondering what software and encoder you are using for making your blackshark movies. i got fraps, and it creates uncompressed avi files at huge file sizes :D

 

i tried windows movie maker but it was very slow and the result looked crappy aswell :D

I recommend a program called virtual dub. its free and it works great. so after you capture with fraps, then you compress those files using virtual dub.

yes i know virtual dub. what codec are you using tho ? xvid, vidx,.. whatever ?

good results with xvid codec.

Using Black Sharks internal movie tool is great.

It's rendering nonrealtime what takes time (meanwhile you shouldn't touch it) but the results are good in quality.

i always record Lock On movies with FRAPS => huge file sizes in .AVI format

then, converting them into .WMV with Windows Media Encoder 9.0

 

4GB in AVI format can be converted = 60MB in .WMV format in 15 minutes, keep resolution = original resolution of source file

i was going to try windows media encoder, but couldnt find a vista64 version. thats why i tried the movie maker first :)

x264 is modern high-quality encoder. It's bit slower than Xvid though. Wouldnt recommend other (free) encoders.
