Aoi Kaze Posted October 16, 2023 Posted October 16, 2023 (edited) Hello all. Two planes are escorting a landing cargo (AI). It's a nightmare to make it right because the advanced waypoint action "escort" only allows to the fighters (also AI) escort a plane until its last waypoint, and that doesn't include the landing incoming maneuvers, so the cargo looks like it's going to land, but makes a loop before doing it and the escort just live it alone by itself. So I decided to make them orbit around the airport in the next waypoint for a while before landing in the carrier. Here's what happens: 1.- They don't go to the following waypoint, they don't orbit, they suddenly disappear from the map, like if the AI was suddenly off. 2.- The cargo lands, but in the moment it lands, before actually stopping completely, disappears from view and clicks a trigger I made to end the mission if the cargo was destroyed (that's what it was about: protecting the cargo). I made a trigger area, and made that in the moment the cargo was over that trigger area below a certain altitude, the previous "end the mission" trigger was disabled. It just doesn't do it. The whole mission stops because the landing cargo appears as "dead". At the briefing room after the mission it says the cargo's AI stopped. I never saw a plane dissapearing the moment they touch land in DCS before. So why does the AI turns off? Both in the cargo and in the fighters? Any ideas? Thanks in advance. (update, I saw the fighters didn't go to the next waypoint; they continued descending, meanwhile the cargo was turning around, way past the airfield, without lowering their landing gears, until they crashed in land several miles ahead) 0_0 =_= 0_0 Edited October 16, 2023 by Aoi Kaze
Grimes Posted October 16, 2023 Posted October 16, 2023 A track file would be helpful, but my guess for question 2 is that the airbase doesn't have parking large enough to support the cargo plane. As a result the aircraft will despawn on landing since it has nowhere to taxi to. 2 The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world. Aoi Kaze Posted October 16, 2023 Author Posted October 16, 2023 Yes, Grimes (thanks for the reply), I thought so, but actually it does more than enough, because at the beginning it was trying to (an succeeding) in landing on a much shorter airport. When the plane doesn't have room, it just doesn't go there. This one does and land, but before stopping (with much of the runway ahead), simply stops. I'll try and prepare an example, because this is at the end of a long and complex mission, but I'm sure if I try it in a new one it will simply work...
