Hillman Posted October 22, 2023 Posted October 22, 2023 Completed M14 - "Train strike" today and I have some feedback on the campaign in general. It's a interesting story and have the potential of a great campaign, but unfortunately it lack's a bit of polish and QA. QA: For example the frequencies/channels; Often channel# or frequency in messages are not correct. I think mostly they are correct in the kneeboards, but this creates confusion. In mission 14 the IP (4) and Target (5) waypoint must be incorect in the kneeboard? Should not WP #4 be the target? The JTAC missions are hard because the coordinates disappears too quickly and drowns in all the AI chatter. When in VR it would be good to put up a message on the upper left corner with coordintes like GroundPounder does in his campaigns. Often the oposition is quite overwhelming, maybe because the AI on my side is often not doing a good job... Some of the voice acting is a bit over the top in my opinion. Some joking/banter is ok, but it's a bit unrealistic sometimes here I feel. Very good to have campaigns for the Harrier and I do recommend this one. A bit of extra attention will make it more enjoyable. 1 HW: AMD 9800X3D, 64Gb DDR5, RTX 4090, Winwing Orion 2 HOTAS, TM TPR rudderpedals, Pimax Crystal Light VR, DOF Hero 3 motion rig, Win11 DCS: P-47, P-51, Spitfire, Mosquito, Bf-109, Fw-190A/D, F-86, F-4E, F-5E, Mig-21, Harrier, Viggen, M-2000C, A-10C, F-14, F-15E, F-16, FA-18, C101, MB-339, Yak-52, AH-64, UH-1, Mi-8, Mi-24, Gazelle, Ka-50, CH-47F, all maps & tech, SuperCarrier
SorelRo Posted October 22, 2023 Posted October 22, 2023 Thanks so much for the feedback, when contacting JTAC don't you have the coordinates on the CAS page? Voice acting is complicated, but some empty spaces need to be filled in somewhat. It was either that or we go typical Navy and Marines, we call Ziplip and nothing goes on the radio. But I'm afraid that would cause more grief. As this campaign will go through a major re-haul next year I'll keep in mind of some of those features. AI is always hard to deal with, and balance, I always tried to avoid safety valves and making some AI magically disappear in an explosion, but that will happen during the overhaul. 1
Hillman Posted October 22, 2023 Author Posted October 22, 2023 Hi, Yes, agree that ziplip is too boring. And it's nice to "get to know" the characters a bit. Maybe a little less gung-ho attitude would be more realistic though... By the way my wingman was shot down in the last mission and a few minutes later he started to talk to me on the radio on the way home . Are you saying that after talking to the JTAC coordinates will appear magically on the CAS page? I was not aware of this and will check it out again. Thanks for that tip. All in all a great campaign with a lot of memorable moments. Looking forward to your next! At least the programing part of it. There's the voices and all the docs and the polish. 1
