Uzigunner Posted October 25, 2023 Posted October 25, 2023 (edited) Just wanted to say thank you to @mbucchia ! Really, thank you so much! For the last two weeks I was looking for a RTX 4090 deal as I could not stand any longer this weird AMD VR implementation. Reading about FFR and other nice things like MR and others but never able to use it, brought me on the edge of throwing out my only 2 years old PC and start off new. But lucky as I am, prices are incrasing again here in old europe and I struggle to justify another invest like a AM5 / 4090 combo. Anyway, long story short - to my surprise I today learnd that QVFR is also working for standard Reverb G2 and in the opposite of FFR from the toolkit IT ALSO WORKS FOR US LOST RADEON USERS!!! And it is working so great, that for the first time I can disable upscaling and not only this, I currently fly the "Schoolbus" (Mi-8) with PD 1.3 and TAA. Adding some CAS and sharpening over the Toolkit and voilà, by far the best IQ and experience I ever had in DCS. There is some slight ghosting but this I will accept easily in case I cannot sort out. In this case I will invest in a 5800X3D upgrade instead of an RTX 4090, or at least wait for the rumored 4080 Super. Mr. @mbucchia, thanks a lot! Uzigunner Posted October 26, 2023 Author Posted October 26, 2023 I have additionally switched the turbo mode from QVFR to the toolkit version (as mbuccia explained in some other post) in order to see CPU and GPU traffic while tweaking the graphics setting. There is still some fine-tuning needed but overall the performance boost and clarity is simply great. 5800X3D // RTX 4090 // 64GB DDR4 CL18 RAM // MSI B550 Mortar // Reverb G2 // Warthog HOTAS // MFG Crosswind
mrsylvestre Posted October 26, 2023 Posted October 26, 2023 Yes. QVFR is probably the single most effective tool for performance increase in DCS VR. On my system, it helped me to find the missing 10 fps to run native 72 fps and say goodbye to retroprojection and ghosting. 5800X3D - 64GB DDR4 - Samsung 990 PRO SSD @ PCI 4.0 x 16 - 7900XTX (6950XT for posts before May 2025) - Pico 4 (VDXR)
