truebrit
Just updated after a few months away, the game used to play great, now it lags and stutters and freezes so much it gives me a headache. I have tried the same settings I used before the update, lower settings, and tried using DLSS but all are terrible. Open beta MT. PC SPECS IN SIG: UPDATE: As advised by a guy on Hoggit I turned off shadows which did improve things a little, but using these even lower settings I still get pretty much the same nonsense. Nvidia display showing as low as 0% GPU and 10% CPU usage. WTH? UPDATE: I just did a slow repair but no change. I also increased my pagefile size but no luck. I checked my CPU and the core are unparked, I also have the latest Nvidia driver. UPDATE: logfile added dcs.log Edited October 26, 2023 by truebrit Planes: A-10C/II - FC3 - F/A-18C - F-16c - F-5 - F-15E - F-4E Helicopters: UH-1H Huey - KA-50 Black Shark - AH-64D Maps: Sinai - Normandy 2.0 - Channel - Syria - Persian Gulf - South Atlantic Extras: Supercarrier - WWII Asset Pack PC SPECS: CPU, Intel i5 4670K @ 4.2GHz | MOBO, ASUS/Z87-A | MEMORY, HyperX FURY Series 32GB (4x8GB) DDR3 Memory1833Mhz |GRAPHICS CARD, GIGABYTE RTX 2060 6GB GDDR6, 1920 Core, 1755Mhz | PSU, CoolerMaster Real Power Pro 1250W 80Plus | Flight Stick, Logitech X-56 | Rudder Pedals, Logitech G | O/S, Windows 10, 64bit | Hard Drives, Samsung SSD 860 QVO 1TB
Limaro
Hi truebrit, playing after some pause, I would suggest to first: delete fxo and metashader cache from your save games folder. Both in C:\Users\<user>\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta. To verify not having a outdated script cause the issue, rename the "Scripts" folder to something else like "Scripts_Backup". Also attach your last log file to this post, that may help identify the issue. 1 Windows 11 Pro 64Bit - AMD Ryzen 5800X3D - AMD 6900 XT - 64 GB RAM VPC MongoosT-50CM2 Throttle, VPC WarBRD Base, VPC MongoosT-50CM2 Grip
truebrit
Added Logfile with hot plug disabled and cores unparked. The game did improve a lot with AA turned off, but no where near enough to play. I hope this gets fixed, the game looks great. dcs.log Planes: A-10C/II - FC3 - F/A-18C - F-16c - F-5 - F-15E - F-4E Helicopters: UH-1H Huey - KA-50 Black Shark - AH-64D Maps: Sinai - Normandy 2.0 - Channel - Syria - Persian Gulf - South Atlantic Extras: Supercarrier - WWII Asset Pack PC SPECS: CPU, Intel i5 4670K @ 4.2GHz | MOBO, ASUS/Z87-A | MEMORY, HyperX FURY Series 32GB (4x8GB) DDR3 Memory1833Mhz |GRAPHICS CARD, GIGABYTE RTX 2060 6GB GDDR6, 1920 Core, 1755Mhz | PSU, CoolerMaster Real Power Pro 1250W 80Plus | Flight Stick, Logitech X-56 | Rudder Pedals, Logitech G | O/S, Windows 10, 64bit | Hard Drives, Samsung SSD 860 QVO 1TB
Insonia
I have had the smoothest experience since 2.9 (single player) on MT. You only got 4 cores and 16G ram, then you may not be affected by the bugs (like HT and core parking) which only affect higher-end systems. You do not need to have high CPU usage on the process to experience stuttering; a lag or stutter happens simply because a frame cannot arrive on time. There are many factors that slow down a process and not have very high CPU usage, like I/O, hardware/driver responsible times, etc.. So What is this stutter feels like? completely random? periodically? Or are they related to certain gaming events? what's your graphic memory usage, system memory usage when stutter happens. you mentioned have low CPU/GPU usage. when game overcommiting and exceeding graphic and system ram can create huge lag caused by the I/O ( indications like very high disk usage, inside of graphic cards may have very high memory "bus" usage ) if possible, maybe you can provide a video or something to demonstrate the issue And Windows also got dashost stutter issue,it only affect people with a bad designed product/driver and network smart devices. DCS also utilized some APIs related to the dashost and provid PnP features. Have you tried this: https://www.google.com/search?q=windows+dashost+stutter Or just submit a ticket to the support page https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/support/ Edited November 9, 2023 by Insonia

Yes I see now, I just thought it could mean they were core affinity only on 1 core or something.. I looked in my log file and I had 16 - 1's for my 16 cores.. Then I would sumize in this instance it could just be a PC not up to par with what 2.9 can produce.. yes he said it worked in 2.8 but this is not 2.8.. I seen a handfuly playing on the CPU and all claim stutters.. so I am thinking a case of underpowerd CPU in this instance.
