TrackIR issues

I'm currently using DCS version 2.9.0.47168, and since the latest update, the game has become unplayable due to TrackIR issues. The device is exhibiting erratic behavior like inverted controls, flickering, and disconnections. I've attempted a software reinstall, but the problem persists. This issue is new; I never experienced such problems before the update.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

No problems with TrackIR and the latest update here.

Have you checked for other TrackIR specific points of failure? Like Hotplug enabled, bright sunspots behind you, camera positioning…?

Check the controls bindings setup for odd entries in the TrackIR column (or double bindings).

Just some Ideas and speculations. I hope you get it sorted out.

Hey @Hiob,

I followed your suggestion, but there wasn't any such binding to change. However, I did manage to resolve most issues by tweaking the graphics settings and Vsync options both in my Nvidia card and in the game.

One persistent problem is that at night, during recovery, all graphics suddenly darken almost to the point of going black, then gradually fade back in. It's odd and occurs consistently.

Attached are my graphics settings for both DCS and my Nvidia 4070 card, which might provide some insight. For context, I'm using a triple 4K monitor setup.

Looking forward to your thoughts.options.lua

Not really trackIR related I think.

The darkening or inconsistent brightness issue is a reported bug in the 2.9 beta release afaik. Nothing to do but wait for ED to fix it I guess. (Maybe make a bug report and provide a track in the proper sub-forum)

The triple monitor setup may add to the trackIR problem. I don’t have experience with such a setup, sorry. (have you enabled the status lights on your trackIR camera? Most of the time my head tracking goes haywire, the camera lost sight of the reflectors/IR-leds of the head piece, due to excessive angles)

I never noticed any influence of the NVCP on trackIR either. Maybe apart from different V-sync or frame-cap settings. But those are supposed to influence the stuttering issue that some people have with trackIR. (Personally I think it‘s snake oil, but to each his own).

Maybe it is related to the GPU driver version.

I had the disconnect similar issue before and contacted with the TrackIR company, the tech support asked me to update the GPU driver to the latest version.

Was this issue happened in 2.8?

Great suggestions so far. Renaming this thread to "Darkening or Inconsistent Brightness Issue" would probably sound more correct and make it easier for others to find and contribute to this specific problem.

I've done some troubleshooting on my end as well—updated drivers, checked settings, and also ruled out TrackIR as the source of the issue. However, the darkening or inconsistent brightness continues to plague my gameplay, particularly during night missions. It's especially frustrating that this problem seems to manifest mid-mission, which makes it difficult to complete night objectives effectively.

Looking forward to ED's new release to hopefully resolve this issue. In the meantime, if anyone has found any sort of workaround or fix, please share!

@scommander2 this never happened to me in any 2.8.x
