sze5003 Posted October 31, 2023 Posted October 31, 2023 (edited) Hi All, I've recently bought a Quest Pro and have had a chance to set everything up. I'm encountering some performance issues and was wondering if I could get some help with what I can do to alleviate them. I have attached a zip file with my DCS Logs, a few track files, and my settings. What I am encountering here is lots of stutter, fps spikes up and down, its generally not smooth due to the stutters every couple of seconds. After some time DCS becomes pretty laggy. You won't see it in the tracks because they are not that long but I've had to force quit before. I'm on the latest nvidia drivers, Gigabyte OC 4090, 32Gb DDR5 and intel 13900k. I am not seeing the same issues in single threaded DCS 2.9 open beta. If anything some initial stutter when I first load into a mission but after that it is pretty smooth overall. I read about core parking/unparking but I've tried two programs Park Control and CPU unpark but neither claimed to do that as I still saw in Windows Resource Monitor that some cores were parked. Also not sure if it is supposed to be there but if I enable the built in FPS monitor I always see "CPU Bound" in Red test at the top of the graph. sze5003 Posted November 7, 2023 Author Posted November 7, 2023 Also tried disabling e cores. Instead of cpu #8 and #10 taking 100% of the load it was #11 and #16 taking all of it. It still stuttered and the stutters happen as I'm watching the fps dcs chart, as soon as I see the frame time graph spike up and down that's when I get the stutters. The longer I'm testing the worse it becomes it seems. sze5003 Posted November 10, 2023 Author Posted November 10, 2023 Update: I'm convinced DCS MT version isn't using my CPU properly. Using processor lasso I noticed CPU core #8 is 100% and other cores not taking much load. So I uncheck core #8 from affinity and then core #9 is the one taking 100%..uncheck that one and then #10 is at 100% so I continue removing them from affinity so on until core #11 is then taking 100%. After I remove #8-11 from affinity I then start seeing a random e core at 100% while the rest again are not sharing load. No clue what to make of this. sze5003 Posted November 16, 2023 Author Posted November 16, 2023 Read this, sorted it for me. No more VR stutters in MT [/url] ...oh and this preceeding post for the regedit Thanks yea I tried that. It did not seem to remove any of the intermittent stutters. When checking processor lasso dcs was still overloading 1 or two cores to 100%. HolyUschie Posted November 18, 2023 Posted November 18, 2023 I've got the same problem with different hardware: Ryzen 7 5800X3D, Gygabite b550 AorusElite(BIOS F17C), 32GB RAM @ 3200Mhz, Sapphire Radeon 6900 XT using a Reverb G2. Frames in MT: 14-15, Frames in ST: 30-35 MT pushes Core 0 to 100%, ST uses all of the 8 core properly.
