Why is the values different when it essentially the same missile?

This is not correct, Viggen uses the same AIM-9 missiles as any other aircraft in DCS does since 2.9. And I'm pretty sure the AIM-9B above is with updated values while the RB24 above uses the old ones still (not that they are in use tho). They used to have the same values, except for the proxy fuse which ED has incorrectly set to 7m, instead of 9m.

From the changelog:

  • New implementation of A2A missiles (by ED) for MiG-21 and AJS-37: R-3S, R-3R, R-13, R-13M1, Rb-24/24J, and Rb-74.
  • Fixed inaccuracies in several versions of the AIM-9.

I assume OP might be on Stable which still has this problem.

You wouldn't see the discrepancy then as they were near identical back when OB dropped. Only with 2.9 would you see a real difference as the AIM-9 family received new values with that patch.

Hmm you're right since the GAR-8/AIM-9B code they posted is for the new 2.9 stats with the better CCM and PN_gain while the Rb 24 code seems to be from the Viggen's weapon lua (which is now commented out) with all the special notes.

No this is latest open beta.

However i testing and you change the viggen lua. It will effect the sidewinders, there are also errors for 24J and 74.

Yes but the change you will be doing is uncommenting the section that defines the Sidewinders on the Viggen. It's all commented out now so only the ED files dictate the AIM-9s.

The current Sidewinder code in the Viggen's weapons.lua do not currently do anything as they are not declared/defined there anymore.
