I see that @jackd has just posted some Ju-88 skins (very nice BTW). I thought it might be best to have a simple, easily searchable, thread for any Ju-88 skins.

Here is the link for @Warlord64's template:

Here are Skins:

  • Ju88-A4 9K+FR of KG51 Zaporozhye, Ukraine May 1942

I'm not aware of any others. If you have some or are aware of some, please post here.

Here are my two latest with photos (they were just submitted so I don't have links yet.)  Edit: Links added

Junkers Ju 88A4 of 4.KG54, B3+AM Catania, Sicily 1943.
I cheated somewhat and used the default Ju 88 skin for the weaving paint on the undersides. This aircraft actually had more uniform "squiggles" but I just didn't want to spend the time on an AI only skin.

KG 54 'Totenkopf', the 'Dead's head' was based in Bergamp, Italy in September 1943. The unit operated over the Sicily/Salerno beachheads. The painted green and white stripes over the original Mediterranean two-tone camouflage on the upper surfaces gives very specific appearance [easy ident over beachhead]. This painting scheme was named 'Wellenmuster'.

That's the feller in need to hunt down in a career mission with a Hurricane it seems ... alas we have only a Mediterranean map in Cliffs/Tobruk.

PS you got torpedoes working again? How?

Honestly it's the first time I tried making a mission with torpedoes. See the screenshot as to the mission set-up. The AI spend lost of time circling around before they make a run (maybe the IP needs to be much further away from the ships?), and they don't attack as a group even though set to do so. Even though I set them to drop both torps, they only drop one and never seem to come back to drop the second one. If the convoy is traveling at anything above 20kph, they invariably miss astern of the target. Of course, the AAA from the ships is murderous. I set the gunners as low as I could but finally had to reduce their ammo to almost nothing. Of course, I could set the ROE to "Weapons hold" but where's the fun in that? I did set them to "Return fire" instead of "Weapons free" so they don't fire until the torps are dropped.

I think the Sinai map might be good. It, at least, has the eastern Med.

Depicting a Junkers Ju 88A4 of Stab. II./KG 77, 3Z+AC, Pilot Heinrich Paepcke, Sicily, October 1942

You will need WW2 Assets Pack.
Place the two skin folders in X:\Users\XXX\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Liveries\Ju-88A4. You probably don't have a Ju-88A4 folder. Just create one and name it just as shown here.
Many thanks to Warlord64 for his excellent template. Link: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3313581/

Based on a model by Hoss WA. Link: https://cs.finescale.com/fsm/modeling_subjects/f/2/p/191445/2206341.aspx

II.KG77 took part in the Siege of Malta. Hauptmann Heinrich Paepcke commanded II.Gruppe during this period up to his loss with his crew on 17th October 1942 over Malta, during one of the most intense aerial battles in history.

Over this period KG77 perfected close ground support and anti-shipping tactics, and developed shape disrupting camouflage as seen on this aircraft. The blue upper surface blotches (on sand + RLM70&71 splinter) are to disrupt the shape of the aircraft against coastline etc to make them harder targets for AAA and enemy fighters at low altitude.

KG77 also supported the AfrikaKorps including the Second Battle of El Alamein, and resisted the Allied invasion of Sicily, probably destroying the U.S. Liberty ship SS Robert Rowan on 11 July.

Hi Rick

WOW...

What can I say, yet another masterpiece Buddy.

You must have spent Hours doing that camo, but boy was it worth it.

Awesome as usual.

Regards

Keith

BTW.. How are You enjoying Your new Modules?

Thanks Keith!

Part of the rules for module prizes was that they had to be DCS built modules. Since I already had every DCS module except the F-16 (which I downloaded but haven't done much with yet) Nineline and Bignewey graciously offered miles instead. So, I DL'd the Viggen (again, haven't flown much yet) and I'm just sitting on the miles for now.

Hi Rick

That's great, and very generous of Nineline and Bignewey  👍

Have fun flying the Viggen

Oh yes, this is on my to do list. Slowly coming closer. I'm not an expert with the mission builder but since I read the Book "Überlebenschance gleich Null" from Bodo Diemer, I knew I need to build the mission where he flew up at night from Istres to the landing beaches and had to attack the ships during the invasion.

He flew the Ju 88 from KG77 3Z+NS, actually a pretty close livery from the standard one. I have no Idea if I will be able to creat this, but one day I have to

Thanks @II.JG1_Vonrd for these amazing Ju 88 liverys, this is what I was looking for since quite a while

Cheers

Depicting a Junkers Ju 88A-14 operating with the Stabstaffel St.G 77 in the spring of 1943 in Kalinowka, Poland.

Includes one skin with and one without swastika.

Link: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3313581/ and to JG1_Klaiber for his very helpful research. A link to his post: https://forum.jg1.org/topic/10866-ju-88-of-stab-stg77/#comment-86778

Note the Schwartzkopf heraldic badge alongside the death's hand emblem, also more clearly  visible in the pictures below. This emblem was designed to honour an earlier Geschwaderkommodore, Oberst Günther Schwartzkopf, who was killed during the Westfeldzug. The Stabsstaffel  StG 77 operated both the Bf 110 and the Ju 88 A-4. The Totenhand emblem has previously and mistakenly been attributed to the Stab. NAG 1.

The photo shown was taken during the time that StG 77 and StG 2 were being reorganized, both operated the Bf 110 and Ju88A. Both units had about 12 Ju 88 A-4s. According to unit strength records from May 21, 1943 both units were disbanded and their crews reassigned to bomber groups.

Depicting a Junkers Ju 88A6 of 8.KG78, F1+GS, France, summer 1943 with remains of temporary black undersurfaces and swastika overpainted black. (Therefore no need for two skins).

You will need WW2 Assets Pack.
Place the two skin folders in X:\Users\XXX\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Liveries\Ju-88A4. You probably don't have a Ju-88A4 folder. Just create one and name it just as shown here.

Hi,

great stuff. Like your skins. Thank you!!

I am a little bit confused.

You suggest to put the files in

X:\Users\XXX\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Liveries\Ju-88A4

others suggest to put files into another folder

for example B-17G

X:\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\tech\WWII Units\Liveries\B-17G

These two are AI aircraft.

Thank you for your help!

Thanks for the compliment!

They will work in either location. I try to put all liveries in Saved Games which, as I've been led to believe, won't be overwritten by a patch or repair.
