Need help/hints of making F-15 look like F/A-18

I don't make new threads much at all but for this one I thought I better make one as I need some help from the people who might know answers to my few questions.

 

First of all, I had an idea of making the US Eagle look like RAAF Hornet, but to make it so it does not interfere with other players when playing online on servers which do not have this same modification (or even with squad buddies who wish to remain inside the Eagle airframe.

 

So far, I managed to have airframe replaced and skins are working. Cockpit and avionics are of the F-15 and all weapons are the same also, so if I hop in in regular server and someone else if flying the F-15, and I pick one also, he will see me in F-15 with all regular weapons (quanity and position) but I will see myself (and other flying the F-15) as in F-18.

 

I have so far 4 graphical issues only which I could use some help, if possible:

 

1. The afterburner is in the wrong position and afterburner and heat blur overlaps with engine/airframe. Is there a way to change its position only?

 

2. The pilots head position in cockpit is determined in server.lua file and I made it adjusted to it's position is propper. Problem is once I join other server with default pilots position my values are overriden, or if I run my own online mission, any not using have done any modification will have their pilots position wrong because of my custom values. Is there a way for me to have my own values for this that is not affected by the server, ie is there a place to change this value other that in server.lua file?

 

3. This is minor and most likely can't be fixed but I might ask anyway... the front leading edge auto flaps are not working (since the eagle model does not have it) so when I am starting up in air, they are always retracted. If I start on tarmac/runway, they are always down. Can this be somehow adjusted so they are always retracted?

 

4. The position of the cannon is now not matching. Can the gun position e changed, or if not, I could live with removing the smoke when firing it so it doesn't give away it's position where the rounds are comming out?

I think most of the stuff you asked about ant be changed. as for afterburner, Gun position, heat blur etc I don't know. I have a theory you might can try though. If you make an aircraft flyable in the meinit XML file, you always get the Mig-29A cockpit or Mig-29S. Im not sure. But what if you replace the Mig-29 cockpit files witht he ones from the F15?. if that works you will have the animations of the F15 correct, the afterburner correct, heat blur correct, weapons correct etc. Though i dont know if you will be able to give the F18 a custom view point setup. might be possible to add some lines in the server.lua file to make that happen. Hope you can sort some stuff out, but by replacing the F15 model with the F18 one, you wont be able to change the problems you listed.

I've messed with replacing the default kabina files with the F-15 one a while back. A lot of stuff didn't transfer over like the HUD is gone and whatnot...it's all wacky.

Yeah, thanks Blaze... I tried it myself also... anywho, I gave up on this modification, if I can't get it to be propper I better just drop it.
