Miccara Posted December 18, 2023 Posted December 18, 2023 The ability to use the same CAP aircraft repeatedly would make a substantial contribution to mission editing. Rather than having to duplicate CAP that may get shot down, along with all the friggin' triggers needed to send out new CAP, having the ability to revive the original shot-down CAP starting in the original position would be a huge timesaver and clean up a lot of clutter on the mission editor. Also, as an additional example, I have a mission where a Mi8 (set as "Client") flies out to accomplish a particular goal. Two Ai Mi24s are assigned to escort it. I remove the escort with a trigger if the player crashes or gets shot down during the mission goal. Then, when the player tries again, I have to insert two new escorts along with all the new trigger work needed. I also need to estimate how many times escorts may be needed and repeat the placing of escorts, and all the triggers needed. If I could simply revive the original escorts every time the Client restarts, that would be a beautiful thing. 1
Exorcet Posted December 18, 2023 Posted December 18, 2023 This is a good suggestion and one that has been asked for over the years. Adding a direct respawn mechanism is probably the simplest way to achieve it, and that alone would be very useful, but the concept can also go deeper. Previously I suggested the idea of adding controllers to airbases that would manage aircraft at these bases and send them out on missions or to defend the base/other areas: This would allow the scheduling of CAP, Escort, etc but also have the advantage of tying that to real limited resources. The same might be possible with a spawner, it could have an option for limited number of spawns, be tied into the warehouse system, or be controlled via scripting or triggers.
