Nightdare Posted January 4, 2024 Posted January 4, 2024 (edited) With the Taurus retired, and it's follow up not visible on the horizon yet, the Orion2 having the mounting possibility Wouldn't it be an idea for WW to offer the PSU for Orion users? AFAIK, it was never offered separately, but they have the molds, and most parts are standard available items ...they might even be able to offer a bracket to allow use with Orion 1 versions (If it had been sold separately at the time the Taurus was available, I certainly would have gotten one to jury-rig into my non-WW setup) Edited January 4, 2024 by Nightdare Intel I5 13600k / AsRock Z790 Steel Legend / MSI 4080s 16G Gaming X Slim / Kingston Fury DDR5 5600 64Gb / Adata 960 Max / HP Reverb G2 v2 Rhino FFB / Virpil MT50 Mongoost T50 Throttle, T50cm Grip, VFX Grip, ACE Rudder / WinWing Orion2 Navy, UFC&HUD, PTO2, 2x MFD1, PFP7 / Logitech Flight Panel / VKB SEM V / 2x DIY Bodnar Button Panels
Ishigami Posted January 5, 2024 Posted January 5, 2024 I would assume it doesn't fit the Orion. The Orion's USB port location is probably also an issue. I don't think this will happen. However in WinWing's discontinuation video for the Taurus there are a few seconds at the end which could indicate that they have replacement in mind: But that could also just be a fluke... Honestly I wouldn't be surprised to not see a unit like this anymore. The high cost and demanding mounting probably resulted in much lower production volume. Their Orion product line probably beats out the Taurus in terms quantity and profit by a huge margin.

Some users on the WW Facebook page have it mounted 1 Ryzen 9 7950X3D - MSI MAG X670E TomaHawk MB, ASUS ROG Ryujin III 360 AIO 64gig Corsair DDR5@6000, Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4090 AORUS Winwing Super Taurus, Orion2, TO / Combat panels, Collective with Topgun MIP Winwing Skywalker pedals, NLR Boeing Mil Edition Simpit, 55" Samsung Odyssey Ark, Trackir
Ishigami Posted January 5, 2024 Posted January 5, 2024 Oh okay that is unexpected. Found one: But it is the Orion 1. The Orion 2 has these plastic covers above the outboard screws. Could still fit... but probably fiddling.

Ishigami Posted January 5, 2024 Posted January 5, 2024 Hu... even more surprising. I never figured what they are for. The manual says not much about them except you could mount a cable clamp on it for the USB cable... that is if you got the newer version with a 90° USB cable. Honestly colour me surprised. Then why did WinWing never release a stand alone version? Hhmm maybe we will indeed get one. 1

The Taurus was already a hefty sum, I think it might actually be considered a sales succes, but that'd be if WW marketing dept. didn't have a large market in mind from the start (it certainly got them noticed) I'd figure added motorized throttles are gonna push a price ,that it would sell in such small numbers that it sooner be considered a prestige product Boutique builders can get away with low volumes/high prices, I doubt WW can and remain operational I for one found out too late about the taurus, or I probably would've gotten one, but a V2 as hinted in the teaser will probably become too rich for my blood to just fork out on a throttle Intel I5 13600k / AsRock Z790 Steel Legend / MSI 4080s 16G Gaming X Slim / Kingston Fury DDR5 5600 64Gb / Adata 960 Max / HP Reverb G2 v2 Rhino FFB / Virpil MT50 Mongoost T50 Throttle, T50cm Grip, VFX Grip, ACE Rudder / WinWing Orion2 Navy, UFC&HUD, PTO2, 2x MFD1, PFP7 / Logitech Flight Panel / VKB SEM V / 2x DIY Bodnar Button Panels

Nightdare Posted January 20, 2024 Author Posted January 20, 2024 (edited) Shame. Browsing through the WW customer support I came across this: Title Do we separately sell products not on sale? Product Descrip Dear customer: for those products not on sale(e.g. PSU), we won’t plan to sell them separately. Sorry for all the inconvenience. ...but then why the addition of the mounting points on the Orion 2? (As is, they're now only a nuisance for mounting with zero added value) Edited January 20, 2024 by Nightdare Intel I5 13600k / AsRock Z790 Steel Legend / MSI 4080s 16G Gaming X Slim / Kingston Fury DDR5 5600 64Gb / Adata 960 Max / HP Reverb G2 v2 Rhino FFB / Virpil MT50 Mongoost T50 Throttle, T50cm Grip, VFX Grip, ACE Rudder / WinWing Orion2 Navy, UFC&HUD, PTO2, 2x MFD1, PFP7 / Logitech Flight Panel / VKB SEM V / 2x DIY Bodnar Button Panels
