Dear Santa ED, would it be possible for our dear KA50 to have a precise parameter to extend the life of the laser? Indeed, there is no alarm or lifetime indicator (timer or temperature, perhaps?) announcing its definitive loss. At present, all we can do is cut its power supply as far as possible and estimate its lifespan at +/- 25'. Only replacing the destroyed laser with a new one can solve this problem.

The laser temperature is modelled, and it depends on how much you actually fire it. If you don't want to burn it out, don't keep it on if you don't need range, obey the timeout counter, and reset after destroying the target (it fires for a few more seconds to give you a buffer). If you do this, it should last for an extra reload of Vikhrs. Otherwise the proper thing to do is wait for it to cool down.  I have never burned it out even not obeying these procedures with the initial 12 shots. It's only if you reload and get back into action quickly when you have a problem.

There is no thermometer in the real helicopter, so there is no justification to add it.

I think you can do a trick where if you suffer any damage, or set off the fire extinguisher, a repair will reset the laser temp, because it respawns your aircraft.

Respecting the counter will certainly preserve the laser for longer, but even if you strictly respect the cooling counters, you will realize over a long gaming session with several resets that your laser will always end up being burned. Even if you're careful. After around 24 Vikhrs fired, the laser will always end up being burned, and respecting the counter will just prevent you from burning out even sooner.
