flak62 Posted January 9, 2024 Posted January 9, 2024 (edited) hi guys any help to a unskilled pc guy over time my dcs file system is all over the place,me messing with mods an stuff, its a right mess now,although dcs runs its impossible to know where to place files now as things are everywhere! ive done the view integrity and uninstall reinstall, but that leaves all the files as they where! any help appreciated thanks oh and im running thru steam oh im only basic pc techi Edited January 9, 2024 by flak62
Hiob Posted January 9, 2024 Posted January 9, 2024 (edited) Hey, don't stress. There are only two folders you need to worry about. 1. Identify where your main game installation is currently placed. Just right click on the shortcut you use to open DCS and see where it points. It points to a "bin" or "bin-mt" folder. The parent folder of that one is your main game installation. This Folder and its sub-folder structure is the first you want to keep safe and tight. 2. In your C:\Users\...\savegames, there is another DCS-Folder, where your personal config, missions, control bindings and such is stored. That's the other one you need. Everything else is not directly linked to the game. !Attention! Sorry, I just read again, and saw that you use steam. I think, my above advise still holds true, but it would be better if another Steam-User would confirm or correct me!
