AH-64D MAD Campaign

Dear Mr. Stone Sky...

apart from the fact that I constantly fail at mission 9 (Sweltering Heat), I would like to know whether it is intentional that you cannot fly as CP/G. The Apache constantly swings left and right while hovering...no chance of getting any missiles on target. By the way, this is exactly the same in other missions. And what is the goal of the exercise...to shoot down all the Rapiers and all the HQs? I would be grateful for a little help.

Hello sir!

This is a slightly different topic - which relates to the Apache campaign. You created it in the campaign theme for Huey and Gazelle. But it’s okay, I’ll try to help you!

9 mission

The targets shall be destroyed in the following sequence: RPR - squad Rapier. RDRE, optical tracker, launchers HQS - HQ-7 ADMS, operational post, and Gepard

This is a combat mission - not an exercise.
You need to destroy the enemy's air defense systems from this list - the sequence is just a tip so that you remember to destroy the most dangerous targets first.
I would advise you to send your wingman to the target - press spacebar when you see the corresponding message

Or you can hit the target from the NOE(nap-of-the-earth) position
In this case, you need to launch Helfire from the maximum distance. I completed this task with the help of AI George.

This is a difficult mission.
If you cannot find the targets, then you will definitely need to enter their coordinates into TSD during launch. This is a must for situation awareness

---------------------

I had no influence on the control of the helicopter from the front seat - CPG, moreover, I myself like to fly from the front seat.
I guess you need to check your control settings, curve settings
As well as trimmer and autopilot settings. By default they are not configured and are not synchronized with PLT settings.
Please check this.

Dear Sir...

Many thanks for the quick response. I always use George AI as a wingman in the missions. However, I would also like to fight the targets myself as a gunner and let George do the flying. Unfortunately, this is prevented by the pendulum movements. And I've only had this phenomenon in your Mad campaign for the AH-64. The axis controls on Pilot and CP/G are set to default from the start and have never been adjusted. I can't find an explanation for this behavior at the moment. Apart from that, it is a challenging but outstanding campaign that is a lot of fun, precisely because it is not that trivial. Would like more of it. Best regards.

Thanks sir! I appreciate your rating!
I would be glad if you post a track file here with this strange AI behavior
Or this is the strange behavior of a helicopter on autopilot.
I'd love to see this!
My only thought on this matter is whether the helicopter is overloaded. AI may not be able to handle heavy weights

Dear Sir,
I have created a trk file for the pendulum problem and attached it here. There seems to be no way to shorten the file or just cut out a scene.
The crucial point begins when George, as the pilot, says that he has reached the desired speed of 0. The flight is a bit strange as I usually fly in VR. This time I flew with a
monitor for the trk file. I didn't take control as CP/G, it all comes from George. And it looks like the wingman is doing the same moves.
To apologize, I have to say that I also experienced this phenomenon yesterday in a mission in the Caucasus, although not to such an extent.
The problem was solved there by changing direction a few times. The commute then stopped. I tried that here too, but had no success.
I'm very curious to hear your opinion. Many greetings from Germany.

Yes! I figured out what the problem was.
This is DCS bug I guess. Or is this the way it should be
The helicopter reacts to the wind in the mission.
The wind is set to 3 meters per second at the ground, and this automatically sets the wind to 7 meters per second at 500 meters. You performed the hover at a height of no more than 100 meters, and I tested several times, but did not reach a height of 500 meters.
But after checking the weight of the helicopter, and after changing the settings, I discovered a connection with wind strength.

Apparently the AI thinks that it is fighting a wind of about 7 meters per second
@BIGNEWY Sir, could you take a look at this please. I've also added a simple example track https://drive.google.com/file/d/1zX0XwhKqV3zro9sOH61c38i_qoexw8LY/view?usp=drive_link .  The helicopter cannot hover stably in wind speeds of 3 meters per second at the ground. Apparently he perceives the wind as at an altitude of 500 meters (7 meters per second). I will be glad to your comment

Hello Sir...
Thank you for your effort in analyzing the problem. I think it's more of a bug than intentional. I also can't imagine a helicopter swinging back
and forth like that, even in strong winds. And the Apache is already one of the heavier representatives of its kind. I looked at your trk file,
there really seems to be differences. Strangely enough, I got rid of the swing completely on a flight in the Caucasus by simply panning left or
right a few times in CMBT mode. What I still don't fully understand is your reference to BIGNEWY.
Should I raise the problem there again or can I already find something about my problem there? Best regards...

No, sir! Thank you for helping to find it! BIGNEWY will look at it as soon as he can.
I hope this will be fixed!
