Spotting in 4k on 2D - major disadvantage

Having a hell of a time spotting on WW2 servers while playing 4K on a 42" 2D screen.  What is strange is I can see the distance dot pretty well far out, but at about medium range totally lose visibility.  Practically have to stumble in at 5 miles to see planes.  So can pick up planes at 20 miles, but once within 10 miles it starts to draw in a tiny little plane and you lose it easily.  Feel like 4K has a distinct DIS-advantage over lower resolutions, which feel a bit backwards IMO.

I see some videos to drop your screen resolution but that won't happen with a Tobii Eyetracker 5.

Have zoom setup and use it, but even when zooming in, at a certain zoom it'll flip from a good sized tracking object to the tiny plane just like if you were closing and not zooming.

Not sure what the solution is outside of lowering resolution.  I saw some patch notes on this, but doesn't seem to help so far.

Discussed at length here. Note that the current Spotting Dots system isn’t controlled in MP so you have to accept that it’s totally being exploited if you play online. FWIW it’s not realistic at all to see WWII fighters at 20 miles so the most authentic setting for 4K is Off.
