zero2005 Posted January 30, 2024 Posted January 30, 2024 IIRC DCS switched to Deferred some years back, Can we please go back to strict Forward Rendering, at the very least for VR? twistking Posted January 30, 2024 Posted January 30, 2024 (edited) It's highly unlikely that ED would develop and maintain a forward rendered version of their current engine. Forward rendering is also not the problem you probably think it is. Raven (Elysian Angel) Posted January 31, 2024 Posted January 31, 2024 The combination of the new rendering pipeline ED is working on, and Vulkan will most likely bring the performance boost we VR users have been craving for so long Spoiler Ryzen 9 5900X | 64GB G.Skill TridentZ 3600 | Asus ProArt RTX 4080 Super | ASUS ROG Strix X570-E GAMING | Samsung 990Pro 2TB + 960Pro 1TB NMVe | VR: Varjo Aero Pro Flight Trainer Puma | VIRPIL MT-50CM2 grip on VPForce Rhino with Z-curve extension | Virpil CM3 throttle | Virpil CP2 + 3 | FSSB R3L | VPC Rotor TCS Plus base with SharKa-50 grip | Everything mounted on Monstertech MFC-1 | TPR rudder pedals OpenXR | PD 1.0 | 100% render resolution | DCS graphics settings
zero2005 Posted February 1, 2024 Author Posted February 1, 2024 Can only hope, Deferred is terrible for VR, just a fact. Its not 2013, no reason to be using Deferred any longer, at least not in DCS which isn't even using the main benefits of going deferred shading in the first place. The shader bloat is real, just dig through the bazar folders. MSAA would benefit by going back to an optimized forward pipeline. 1 System: Intel 14700k on ASUS Tuf Gaming z790 PLUS, Arctic Liquid Frozer II 360mm AIO, 64gb ddr5 @ 6800mhz//28-39-16-38-70, Gigabyte 4090 Winwing Orion2 F-15EX/F-16EX combo, VKB T-Rudder Mk.IV, TM Warthog (Shelved) 2x 256gb Vertex 4 SSD's, 2x 1tb Sabrent NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD's, 1x 4.0tb Silicon Power NVMe, 1x 4tb Seagate HDD VR: Quest 3 (Current), HP Reverb G1 (Shelved)
