James DeSouza Posted February 5, 2024 Posted February 5, 2024 Hello. I have been using a logitech G940 for a while now because force feedback is amazing, however because it was something like 12 years old when I got it there was a bit of a disconnect between where the axis was reporting itself as being in game vs where DCS puts it when I trim a chopper (and presumably where the force feedback mechanism thinks it is) and this has been getting worse with time. For example when I move the stick to the right of its axis along the X axis it reaches 100% with about 1 inch's worth of travel (as measured at the top of the stick) but when I trim it in a chopper to get that 100% position the stick moves itself that extra inch to get full travel. And the same basic thing happens on both axis and in both directions just to lesser severities (to the right on the X axis being the most severe one). It's nothing that makes the stick unusable, it's just a minor annoyance. I am hoping there is some way I can change what the force feedback thinks is the limits of its potential travel in order to sync it up with the joystick. Thanks for any answers.
firefox121 Posted February 5, 2024 Posted February 5, 2024 If I understand you will solve it by assigning at the axis controls tab, when you select your device, press the focefeedback botton and see what forces are assigned to compensator and to vibration, If you set the compensator force (The first one ) over 50, the joy will jump when you release the trimm (on choppers), vibration has no effect. Also at Specials tab, I discovered that setting trim to "default(ffb friendly) not to "ffb joy without springs" this behaviour is less noticeable. This is on my sidewinder ffb2 , also , in this joy, I must select "inter axis" to feel forces right. Think that at Logitech G940 must be disabled. On planes the compensator force works well betwen 80-100 (as your preferences) and vibration too. But when flying choppers always 50 or less If you fly also the gazelle, make sure at special tab to enable "use his own force feedback" or something like that and "ALWAYS" the two sliders that refers ffb to 0, if not your joy will jump over the selected trim position. Hope it helps I don't know if the FFB settings work differently for each of us since we use different sticks but I have two settings (in DCS) one is called Trimmer (I assume your compensator) and the other is called shake. Lowering the trimmer setting just reduces the strength of the stick's force feedback universally which does help with the problem by letting you just overpower the stick trying to move itself but it doesn't fix the problem itself. The problem being that the stick tries to move further than it should because the stick seems to treat it as if the force feedback axis has larger throws than the stick input axis. Are you saying the MSFFB also has this same problem? I was thinking of getting one of those if the problem continues to get worse in the 940, but if that also has the same problem I suppose I might have to try to get one of those rhino sticks, or maybe a brunner one. Also what is "inter axis"? I don't think I have seen that setting. Is it in the FFB tune menu? I only have the KA-50 and the MI-8, so possibly it is module specific?
firefox121 Posted February 6, 2024 Posted February 6, 2024 I mean this buton, at sidewinder ffb 2 must be ticked in order to feel the forces right. Other thing that you can check is your preferences at windows joy panel , With my sidewinder is not an option because win11 does not provides support, only forces but can't be adjusted like wheels etc , where you can change the force amount, the spring force etc.. If all of this fails for you, search the simFFb app at githubm and install, there you can assign forces even change profiles to see if that behaviour goes better. My sidewinder works well, but , it has a center dead zone where the forces does not works well (almost none) and with the apache is a bit disapointing due to the behaviour of his computer and the autopilot stuff. (a minimal input disenganges the control) , I solved it by attaching a rubber tape at the stick gimbal, so it adds friction and the joy stays wher I leave it without no movement. Hope it helps r 1 Intel i9 10850k - MSI Tomahawk 490z - 64 GB DDR4 3000 - HP Reverb G2 - MSI optix Mag321curv 4k monitor - MSI RTX 3080ti - Winwing Orion Throttle base plus F18 stick

The same for me, MS FFB2...really like it as a joy but when on the AH64, it's almost impossible to find the correct trim or to hover the heli !! What do you mean by "...rubber tape on the gimbal"?? (did you managed to remove the center jiggle or what?)

I mean something like this : I use velcro on his soft face. works more or less well, it creates enough resistance so the joy wont jiggle when touched.null Intel i9 10850k - MSI Tomahawk 490z - 64 GB DDR4 3000 - HP Reverb G2 - MSI optix Mag321curv 4k monitor - MSI RTX 3080ti - Winwing Orion Throttle base plus F18 stick
