PawlaczGMD Posted February 22, 2024 Posted February 22, 2024 Can you jettison rotor blades without ejecting? This is admittedly very niche, but if I am going to do a hard landing and don't want to eject to not destroy the heli, I might want to jettison the rotor blades on touchdown, so that they don't hit the ground if I flip over, etc. This is the first stage of the ejection process. Does anyone know if there is a way to do it?
Chump Posted February 22, 2024 Posted February 22, 2024 I think that the closest you will get is the "circuit test" button to the left of the dial. AFAIK, you cannot cause a real ejection sequence without actually ejecting the crew member, only test the different stages. I say, let the blades break as they will. If you are wanting a hard landing vs ejection, I've never actually seen the physical blades cause any issues with the craft hitting the dirt and surviving.
zerO_crash Posted February 25, 2024 Posted February 25, 2024 This is not SOP, nor does it make any sense. Even if you flip upon landing, those blades will absorb the initial impact, preventing high-G somersaulting/spinning. Rotorblade-ejection is part og the ejection-sequence, thus no, there is no other way to activate that system. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
