Grimes Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 Just got the game installed and two things have thus far happened with the main menu. So far the menu generally lacks a background texture. I see the icons and can click on them, however the actual texture is completely missing. The other thing that happens is that the menu itself gets majorly glitched. You can still click the buttons if you hover over the usual spot it would be in the menu, and they still work. But this makes the menus unusable. JG14_Smil Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 (edited) if you have SLI or X-fire enabled, try disabling it. I had some artifacts like you show when I tried O/Cing my GPU #3 and #4. (ATI 4870x2) Edited April 11, 2009 by JG14_Smil
Grimes Posted April 11, 2009 Author Posted April 11, 2009 Its a drive issue. However a few different drivers I've tried dont seem to work to well. Ati 8.12 worked properly. Both main menu background and this glitch didn't exist. However those drives gave me Blue Screens. Now Im on 9.1s and its back to this glitch. I may be getting an Nvidia 9600gt soon. So hopefully that might fix things. The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world. Grimes Posted April 14, 2009 Author Posted April 14, 2009 I've tried several driver releases, non seem to eliminate this problem. 8.11 and 8.12 Catalyst drivers occasionally display the menu's correctly. I've settled on 8.11 as it seems to work more often for me than 8.12. One interesting note. If I change a setting in ati-tray tools the menu displays correctly. However once I click and give focus to launcher.exe it reverts back to the heavily artifacted image. Pretty much every setting that makes the monitor flash black results in a proper display, but then once I click it reverts back...... Any thoughts? Grimes Posted April 17, 2009 Author Posted April 17, 2009 I found the exact solution and problem. Error caused by extended display settings. When running two screens off of two VGA outputs one monitor comes up as "Plug and Play (Name of video Card)" If its the 2nd output it attaches "secondary" to the end of that. I was playing on my secondary monitor. A quick switch of the plugs in the back fixed the problem for a few hours of game time tonight.
