quesoesbueno59 Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 This isn't a normal crash. Whenever I try to start a game, a few seconds into the loading screen I get a message saying "DCS.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close." There is no .crash file generated. If it helps, I just installed the game. And looking to see if anyone else has this problem, I noticed a lot of people say that the G15 keyboard, Microsoft Sidewinder mouse, and Saitek X52 joystick cause problems with the game. I am using all three of those.
EtherealN Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 Please supply some further information on your hardware, operating system and driver versions. If nothing else it will help us exclude those as a cause. Also, have you checked if any of the solutions for X52 problems and so on posted in those threads work for you? quesoesbueno59 Posted April 13, 2009 Author Posted April 13, 2009 I tried a reinstall and it still doesn't work. Please help me!
quesoesbueno59 Posted April 13, 2009 Author Posted April 13, 2009 Also, I found in the error message there is a part that says, "AppName: dcs.exe AppVer: 1.0.0.0 ModName: dinput8.dll ModVer: 5.3.2600.2180 Offset: 00015738" Can anyone tell me what it means?
Acedy Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 That dll is part of direct input, so it could indeed be a problem with your input devices. If you have another keyboard and mouse at hand, please try it with them. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] *** SERVMAN SERVER MANAGEMENT MOD V2 FOR DCS:BS V1.0.1 *** *** VERSION FOR FC2 ***
quesoesbueno59 Posted April 13, 2009 Author Posted April 13, 2009 I changed my input devices and reinstalled\downgraded my drivers (I don't remember, but I don't really care). It worked. Now I'll try with my normal input devices, and I'll get back to you.
quesoesbueno59 Posted April 13, 2009 Author Posted April 13, 2009 I LOVE YOU ACEDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I swear, if you were sitting next to me right now, I'd hug you. I learned my problem was my G15. All I need to do now is just switch out my keyboards whenever I want to play. Not too much to ask for for this game.
