I received my crystal yesterday. I am having an issue with flickering. Almost like random flashes of lightning. Only in vr. Do not have this problem with msfs 2020. I'm sure it's a setting issue. I am not sure where to go from here. Firmware on headset is updated.

12900 k and a 4090 gpu. 64 gb of mem. I tried different settings in pimax software. Different settings in dcs. Different settings in openxr in the sim. Any ideas?

If you post some pictures from your settings (e.g., Pimax, PimaxXR Control Center, OpenXR Toolkit and DCS), it would help a lot.

As always:

1. disable all mods

2. do a slow repair

3. delete the FXO and metashader2 folders in \games\DCS(.openbeta) or whatever your folder therefor is.

Deinstall all old drivers if you ever have used any other VR-Headset from another brand.

I had those kinds of flickers with an older DCS update, but that was more than 6 months in the past. A slow repair fixed it for me.

With the current build there should be no flashes at all.

Although you issue may be different when I had flickering with my 8KX it was down to the main cable. Try connecting your Crystal direct to your PC eliminate hub issues and try again. Check your Device manager to ensure Windows cannot turn off USBs/HIDs. HTH

I did have a g2. Stipped uisng because I did not like wmr. Then used trackir and tried tobii eye tracker 5. I actually did a clean I stall of windows to remove ant potential old drivers/files conflicting with pimax.

Dcs has no mods on a fresh I stall of windows. Latest drivers for gpu. I did tey bypassing the hub on the headset.

What I did was disabled a setting in limax that was conflicting with quadviews. Flickering is gone. However, with all settings maxed out in dcs, in the Caucasus map I'm getting 90fps and gpu usage is about 50 percent. In the marianas i am getti g 45 to 50 fps and gpu is still only at 50 percent usage. I still get freezes sometimes. They are short lived and goes away after a second or 2.  I could turn down some settings but I have questions.

If my gpu is only being used at 50 to 60 percent, why am I getting freezes?  Why is my gpu at only 50 percent?  I have watched so many videos and read so many forums that for dcs and msfs vr with pimax, a 4090 is the best. I feel maybe I purchased the 4090 when I did not need to. Kind of bummed about that.

I am very happy with the pimax. Only had it for a day, so I am still learning and tinkering. I want to max it out to get the best performance and graphic quality as possible.

I came here to say I’m having the same issue.  Just upgraded from a Samsung WMR to the Crystal.  I was getting 90 FPS on the DCS menu screen with my Samsung.  I get 35 FPS and flickering on the DCS menu screen with my Pimax.   It has to be a setting… I just haven’t found it yet.

System:  I9 14900, 4090, 64GB.

Please try to disable the Smart Smoothing on PimaxPlay.

Please, give us some Screenshots from your DCS Options System settings. Some settings will cause issues with VR and especially with DFR enabled (see below, first screenshot, green marker).

My settings for a smooth VR experience are below. Some things are made with the OpenXR Toolkit in game. I have reduced the HS-Resolution to round about 3900 x XXXX (I don't know exactly the numbers).

I tested it yesterday with the Caucasus F16 Instant Action Mission "Free Flight". With 120 Hz Mod set in the Pimax Tool, I've got 100+ FPS at the start and 90 FPS near the ground.

Normally I am using the 72 Hz mode, because the other Maps are much more demanding for the GPU.

Most problems with real bad VR performance are coming from old settings from other VR brands (the last screenshot).

Deinstall all drivers and settings, especially in Steam. If you don't know how to reset the setting, deinstall all the SteamVR tools and after that reboot your PC.

For more precise help, we need some screenshots from you (see below).

These are my settings.   Important to note, I’m getting 35FPS in DCS and it’s choppy in MSFS.  So I don’t think it’s an in game setting.   I’m running an i9 14900, 4090 GPU and64GB or ram.  So I don’t think it’s hardware related.   Before getting my crystal, I ran a Samsung WMR headset with open xr.

Since the last Pimax SW-Update you should reboot the HS within the SW after each first start of the SW. You can clearly see that the 120 Hz option is missing. It's a known bug since the last update.

Without DFR you will get a hard time with the Crystal and DCS.

Why are you using Open Composite? It's not necessary anymore, at least for DCS. If there is no other reason, I would delete it.

Would you please show us your DCS Option System settings too?

Edit: Did you ever try a reset of the OpenXR Toolkit? If not, please do so. It is a "must do" if you ever used another VR-HS from another brand.

Think I have it figured out.  Thank you for all your help.

I placed OpenXR Toolkit into safe mode, opened it up, and then selected the  “restore default” setting.  That bumped it up from 35fps to 72fps.

I the. went from 72hz to 120hzn in the Pimax settings.  This bumped it up to over 100fps on the carrier.
