I don't know why but onc I got my new gaming computer about a week ago I finally installed LOMAC. But itwon't take FC because it won't run on VISTA. And whenever I try to change the controls or key commands it never changes it stays the same. And one thing that buggs me is I'll be in the middle of a missio and the entire game will shut down and windows will say LOMAC is having a problem it will have to close. Does anybody know a solution to these problems? I've installed the 1.10 and 1.02 patches.

Also whenever I try to complete a mission what I do is not follow the waypoints but get vectored to the nearest bandit, and even when I take out all the enemy aircraft i still fail. is it due to not following the waypoints? How do you get SUCCESS in a LOMAC mission?

Should work with Vista, update fully to 1.12b or try the beta patch. Don't see any reason why it isn't working, but this question would probably be better suited in the self help section.

As far as completion, all you should have to do is take out the targets as they are lit up by the AWACS. Don't have to land but it is helpful for the pilot log book if you land or eject.

Try a complete uninstall first (game, drivers etc.)

Install the game then download the latest LOMAC patch and install that, restart then run the game again. You do not need to go to the StarForce website.

I doubt its a starforce broblem, but here is hte link to download the starforce update program: http://www.star-force.com/support/drivers/

Select the dirvers before 5.5 (down o nthe page), it should be a small program that u only have to run. U will eventually get a message that the dirvers are updated.

However, you need FLAMING CLIFFS to run lockon on vista. If you have vanilla lockon (Lockon Modern Air Combat without any addons), I dont think you will be able to run it on vista. Also the 1.12b patch only works with flaming cliffs.

Flaming cliffs is an addon for lockon that improves many things in the game, aswell to add a new flyable aircraft. You can get Flaming Cliffs from the ED website.

Good luck!:)

Oh so you only have the original LOMAC? Yeah mine never worked on Vista 64-bit.

And to the guy above, try running LOMAC: FC in XP compatibility mode

(right click on the shortcut > properties > compatibility :: run this program in compatibility mode for)

that worked for me once.

Are you sure you're installing the right patches? There are a few different ones out (download version, cd version etc.)

Yes I'm downloading the cd versions because thats the way I got it. What do you think is the problem? I downloaded patch 1.1b too see if that might fix it we will see. it hought patches were supposed to help the program instead its making this thing worse, WHAT THE HELL MAN!

I just installed LOMAC and not FC and added the patches 1.01 to 1.02 and yet it still crashes wven when I change the compatibility. WHAT THE HELL THIS GAME HATES ME!

This may sound rude, I don't mean it to be though...are you starting Lock On Flaming Cliffs, or just Lock On? LOMAC won't work on Vista, Flaming Cliffs should (I don't have the Gold version so I don't know if they install seperately like it did with the download version).

The problem of translucent planes and objects is not related to Starforce. If it was a patch / Starforce+Vista problem, and you would have installed the wrong patch (1.12a) , then Starforce simply would not let you allow to use Flaming Cliffs, not even the mentioned 5 minutes.

But you are able to launch Flaming Cliffs and play it, but with grafix bugs.

It's a grafix driver issue, I'm sure.

What video card ?

What driver version ?

If Flaming Cliffs is running in XP compatibility mode (I think it's 32 bit then), the video card might require a 32 bit driver as well ? Experienced Vista users here ? (I'm running W2K and I'm still so happy....)

The graphics card I'm using is an ATI RADEON 4670 DUAL

The drivers are ST316002

ST350062

both are up to date I checked

Hmm sounds strange. Just to be clear, heres what to do:

Uninstall lomac and flaming cliffs. Delete the game folder.

Now reinstall:

1. Lomac (right click and select run as admin)

2. Flaming cliffs (right click and select run as admin)

3. Patch 1.12b (right click and select run as admin)

4. use the starforce update program (probably wont need to since u've already run it, but just in case)

Now it should work. You might have to restart in betwen each install, you'll get a message of that. If you still have the grapics problem, its either something wrong with the install cd's (I've heard there were some cd's with corrupt files a long time ago, they were recalled and replaced with working ones) or its a problem outside lockon (graphix driver etc.)

Oh, and can you post a screenshot of the problem you have?

I put XP Sp2 combatibility and it crashed again.

After 3-4 mins I have a crash.

That made the biggest difference. But now running it as an admin it is fine, what's the difference?

Except for the fact it crashes every 10-15 mins ingame why does it do that?

Shackman and me still have the same problem as I see.

After a few minutes game will crash.

Mine sometimes instead of a clean crash the keyboard and the X-52 Pro will stop responding.

And the only way to stop it will be to force a quit on game through Task Manager.

Yeah it was arelief to fix that cockpit problem but now in the middle of amission as you said Zakkron we always have the game crash when we 're both doing well in a mission but haven't saved it. What's up with that? is thewre a fix?

i'm just thinking about rebuying it off Amazon and seeing if it continues to crash the question is wheter to buy it Gold or both Seperate so i'd have LOMAC and then the add on FC in 2 different boxes or just get it on 2 cds and hope they aren't corrupt.

Personally I would buy them seperate, Gold had a lot of issues if I recall correctly.

But if you noticed I have the same problems with Shackman and I have bought them separately.

So its not the Gold edition that have the problems.

I just decided to try an experiment and i went ahead bought them sepratly to see if they will run correctly instead of installing them with Gold so they'll be 2 seperate programs hopefully this'll fix the problem, i don't know?

Well yea, not your problem. But I know when Gold came out it was plagued with a few different issues that pretty much made the game unplayable.

You've reinstalled from Lock On-patched fully-Lock On FC-patched fully-you're starting the game with the Lock On FC shortcut and the game crashes. Any error? Code? Is your joystick set up properly? Everything up to date?

Try configuring your joystick through the game if you are doing it with the program provided by Saitek, and vice versa if you are using the game to program it. See where that goes.
