Recounting of a 109K encounter?

Hello, I don't know the most about late WW2 fighters so I'm curious if someone who knows more can advise me. In this clip from dogfights TV show , there is a part which I will post of a P-51D pilot describing being outperformed by a mystery 109 variant, at altitude as well. I was under the impression that only late G models or K model 109s could even approach 51Ds performance, could it have been a 109K encounter? If someone who knows more can watch this clip and give their opinion on variant, I'd be grateful.
