Nobby Nobbs Posted April 2, 2024 Posted April 2, 2024 Have you been encountering stuttering when looking around with TrackIR, as if the action of looking around isn't nearly as smooth as it should be - despite having your framerate capped at 60 or 120? Or have you been encountering low GPU usage and terrible performance in-game, but when you bring up the menu by pressing ESC, GPU usage and framerate returns to normal? Well, I've found a potential fix. The same thing solved both these issues for me, on two separate occasions and with two separate graphics cards (2070 and 4070 SUPER). In Nvidia Control Panel, press Adjust desktop size and position, then under the Perform scaling on: dropdown menu, select GPU. Do this for all connected monitors and click Apply. That's it. I hope this helps. I've been pulling out hair trying to fix these issues, and in both cases the culprit turned out to be the same (it had apparently reset the setting to Display scaling when I got a new graphics card, which for some reason caused low GPU usage and terrible performance when not in the in-game menu). If you have a different solution to either of these problems that worked for you, feel free to post it here. Cheers. 1 2
SharpeXB Posted April 2, 2024 Posted April 2, 2024 I’m curious why this would have any effect as I assume this only functions when you are scaling resolution to the display ie running a 1080p video on a 1440p display etc. That being said I do have GPU selected and my TrackIR works fine. I just figure the GPU does a better job at scaling than the monitor. 1 i9-14900KS | ASUS ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO | 64GB DDR5 5600MHz | iCUE H150i Liquid CPU Cooler | ASUS TUF GeForce RTX 4090 OC | Windows 11 Home | 2TB Samsung 980 PRO NVMe | Corsair RM1000x | LG 48GQ900-B 4K OLED Monitor | CH Fighterstick | Ch Pro Throttle | CH Pro Pedals | TrackIR 5
Nobby Nobbs Posted April 2, 2024 Author Posted April 2, 2024 (edited) Yeah, I'm not sure why this works, but I'd like to know. I think it might even work for some similar VR-related issues. In my case, I'm running a 1440p 165Hz monitor alongside a 1080p 60Hz monitor, but all display scaling in Windows is off, so you wouldn't think it's related. Could be, though. Could also be related to DLSS, as that's technically scaling the picture and I've been using it since it released for DCS. Though that doesn't explain why it also worked for TrackIR stuttering when looking around before DLSS was implemented... Edited April 2, 2024 by Nobby Nobbs
