Pimax Crystal keeps disconnecting whenever I start DCS - HELP!!

Hey guys,

My (very) expensive HMD keeps disconnecting, and shuts off whenever I start DCS. Sometimes it's after a minute or so, but now it disconnects whenever I start DCS. I don't use other games, but when I connect the Crystal to the Pimax software it keeps running and connecting with green LED light.

All / any help more than appreciated. 

Specs are:

• Motherboard; Gigabyte X670E AORUS MASTER (win11 64)
• Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 (driver 31.0.15.3578)
• AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 8-core (driver 10.0.22621.2506)

Latest firmware/software on the Pimax Crystal

Hi,

What do you mean by "when I connect the Crystal to the Pimax software"? To use the Crystal in DCS you must have Pimax software running all the time.

I know, it was just a way to tell that if I don't start DCS, my Crystal stays connected with the Pimax software. As soon as I start up DCS it loses its connection.

Can you please give some more information?

Do you get an error message.

Do you use DCS with or without SteamVR?

Did you try all the steps in How To Run OpenXR On The Pimax Crystal | Pimax ? Except for the OpenComposite step as that is not required anymore when you run bin-mt\DCS.

Edit: is this your first VR headset?

Thanks for your assistance. I’ll do my best to answer your questions.

Error message: No I don’t get an error message. The Crystal just switch itself off, whenever I start DCS. All LEDS out. (Battery fully charged.) —> As I type this, I realize that the VR headset doesn’t so much disconnect as it simply powers off and loses power.

DCS: no SteamVR

Link: yes I did all that (with described exception)

First VR headset: NO, I have owned a G2 Reverb

Have you made any changes to your system recently? Win update? Drivers update on PC components?
If so: Double check that your on board graphics card is disabled in your BIOS.

No updates lately.

I’ve disabled the onboard graphics card via device manager. No luck so far.

Hi,

My question about a previous headset is related to problems there were In the beginning of the headsets as the Varjo and the Crystal coming into DCS. Specific related to WMR software still installed.

Have you uninstalled all software related to the G2 Reverb? It would be at least worthwhile giving this a try and make sure all WMR related software is removed.

Did you also have a check in the DCS log for clues?

Such problems usually occur when old settings from other VR-HS from another brand are still active.
You should therefore first reset all old settings in SteamVR and WMR. It is best to delete the settings or drivers. Then reinstall the Pimax software.
And then set up all the other things again that you absolutely need for the Crystal.
What is always helpful with such issues is if you provide screens of your settings.

Well guys, thank you all for replying on my request for help. Somewhere along the way of putting your tips in practice it’s working (again). 
Uninstalled HP Reverb and WMR stuff, and set some settings as suggested by Nedum.

Don’t know what did the trick, but it’s back up and running again.
