frumpy Posted April 9, 2024 Posted April 9, 2024 Hi there, I am about to buy a RHINO. The only thing I worry about is the used plastic on the gimbal and housing. Right now I am using a Virpil CM3 base with extension - it's all metal and very precise - but limb without force feedback. I am worried about introducing play with the plastic in the RHINO, especially when it comes to (hopefully) using it for many years. Looking at youtube videos and reviews, I always get a "first looks", which makes the whole thing a little more obscure. So you Rhino-people - how does the stick keep up with stiffness and precision over time? :) 2
some1 Posted April 10, 2024 Posted April 10, 2024 Mine has been working for half a year so far with zero maintenance required. Best to check their Discord and look at the support requests there, but I don't think there are any serious issues so far. A few people damaged the thread on the part where you screw the grip on, but that's fairly easy to replace. Belt drive may need tensioning after a while. 1 Hardware: VPForce Rhino, FSSB R3 Ultra, Virpil WarBRD, Hotas Warthog, Winwing F15EX, Slaw Rudder, GVL224 Trio Throttle, Thrustmaster MFDs, Saitek Trim wheel, Trackir 5, Quest Pro
RealDCSpilot Posted May 17, 2024 Posted May 17, 2024 Hi there. I got the first public Rhino device almost exactly 2 years ago. Still running strong and precise. Flying DCS almost on a daily basis. 1 i9 13900K @5.5GHz, Z790 Gigabyte Aorus Master, RTX4090 Waterforce, 64 GB DDR5 @5600, PSVR2, Pico 4 Ultra, HOTAS & Rudder: all Virpil with Rhino FFB base made by VPforce, DCS: all modules

RealDCSpilot Posted May 18, 2024 Posted May 18, 2024 (edited) I have all modules, mainly going for helicopters and jets. Sadly warbirds are getting not used as often as i would like. "Lower force mode" is what i only know about expensive and general lower force Brunner bases, but i can't remember that it ever happened on my Rhino(?). However, the fans do kick in on longer heavy stick pulling maneuvers. But i'm in VR with headphones all the time, so no problem for me there. Never needed to do any maintenance stuff.
