TimSell75 Posted April 22, 2024 Posted April 22, 2024 I am not sure if I am doing something wrong, but landing vertically is almost impossible at FOB Juliet. I can do a rolling vertical landing but hovering, even with a slick jet and 1000 pounds of fuel and water injection, is not possible. I tried the same at sea level and had no similar problems. Could it be that Juliet is simply too high for vertical landings? I'll recheck myself soon, past Harrier updates could well have altered engine performance. No harm in a rolling VL landing though, tower will be perfectly happy with that. 1
Papa1 Posted April 26, 2024 Posted April 26, 2024 I’m having same problem, I just purchased this campaign and set up a little practice mission at same FOB and cannot land vertically. Getting ready to start campaign and have read nothing but good about it. 1
ChillNG Posted April 26, 2024 Posted April 26, 2024 Just did some quick tests and at light enough weights VL was still possible, I was just, just able to hold a hover at FOB J with about 1000lb of fuel left, 2 empty fuel tanks, full gun ammo and a TGP...some of the time. Other the times the aircraft couldn't quite hold the altitude but would settle very gentle to the ground so no drama there either. Both needed full power and water injection though. With a few knots on the airframe to make it a rolling VL it was a lot easier, I would certainly recommend this approach through the campaign, at some points you'll be landing at higher altitudes so master the rolling VL . 1

Thanks for Testing! So at least I know I am not the problem here I am at mission 4 and it has again proven to be the pinnacle of DCS campaign making in my opinion! Yeah I seem to remember an engine nerf sometime back from Razbam. Glad you're enjoying!
