By which I mean:

MGRS grid OFF by default
LL grid OFF by default
Show labels - ground units OFF by default
Show labels - aerial units OFF by default

Also:
Aircraft on the ground that are set to LATE ACTIVATION - allow VISIBLE BEFORE ACTIVATION

For the last point, set the aircraft to Uncontrolled not Late Activation. They'll be visible from mission start until you give them the Start command.
