Badoo Posted May 8, 2024 Posted May 8, 2024 (edited) Hi there, New user here. I’m trying to install a brand new instance of DCS World with Updater version 2.9 on Windows 11, but can’t get past 5kb/s speed while I have a 100GB/s download internet connection! My provider is Spectrum. From my previous experience with torrent sites, I know Spectrum for sure blocks and throttles down the speed of downloads when using torrents. To make sure nothing else is causing this, I have turned off my firewall and have no other virus blocker software running on my machine. I also checked and Windows autotune is enabled. I know in previous versions of Updater, user could switch to direct http download and not to use torrents. But looks like that is removed in 2.9! I was wondering if there’s any other way I can directly download the install files from your server through http now, and without using torrents? I attached my autoupdate_log.txt file as well. Thanks. autoupdate_log.txt Edited May 8, 2024 by Badoo
rob10 Posted May 8, 2024 Posted May 8, 2024 ED hasn't used torrent for download since about 2020 (near as a search reveals date wise) 1
Badoo Posted May 10, 2024 Author Posted May 10, 2024 Hmm, that's strange! Cause I see .pack files are stacking up in _downloads/.packs folder as empty files first and then they start to gain size. Exact behavior that you see when a torrent client downloads bunch of files in parallel. (See the attached screenshot) I have no speed problem downloading files directly from any other site, except this one. And as you can see in my screenshot, the download is very sporadic and slow. Is there anything I can do to speed this up?! Thanks.
One Eyed Ross Posted May 12, 2024 Posted May 12, 2024 This is where I am. Updater says "Downloaded 71.4 of 120081.7 MBytes Speed 0.9 MB/s" and has for a LOOOOOONNNGGG time. Going nowhere fast.

Going nowhere fast. If the 1st number is not changing I'd cancel and restart it. It will pick up from where it left off, although it will initially say "0 of xxxxx" but the "xxxxxx" will be smaller than the current 120081. 1
One Eyed Ross Posted May 12, 2024 Posted May 12, 2024 (edited) I did...and I did....and I did. Still wouldn't work. "Server returned null string".... finally got it (sort of)...will see how it goes. I am going to blame it on the solar storm and Starlink. Edited May 12, 2024 by One Eyed Ross
Badoo Posted May 13, 2024 Author Posted May 13, 2024 (edited) Yeah, same here. Restarted a million times so far, but each time after a little while with very low speed, it gives me either Curl SSL error or says server is out of capacity and try later. One Eyed Ross, you're lucky it went through once! Edited May 13, 2024 by Badoo 1
Badoo Posted May 13, 2024 Author Posted May 13, 2024 (edited) Hi rob10, thanks for your reply. I keep getting the following errors in autoupdate_log. Any idea what can be the cause of it? I also attached my autoupdate_log file for your attentions. 00920.982 INFO : Got incomplete data for .packs/7b8d250382f38dd70d907f21d4a23f4dcc15adb4.pack. You can try as workaround to connect to a VPN service, in that case all traffic will be "tunneled" in an encrypted TCP traffic, your ISP should not be able at that point to apply traffic shaping on it. Even just for a single test, it will be useful to validate the theory of some restriction performed by your ISP 1 FlighRIG => CPU: RyZen 5900x | RAM: 64GB Corsair 3000Mhz | GPU: nVIDIA RTX 4090 FE | OS Storage: SSD NVMe Samsung 850 Pro 512GB, DCS Storage: SSD NVMe Sabrent 1TB | Device: Multipurpose-UFC, VirPil T-50, TM WARTHOG Throttle, TrackHat, MFD Cougar with screen.
