RafaPolit Posted May 22, 2024 Posted May 22, 2024 (edited) There is definitely an issue, Iron Mike has posted this in the HB developer shoutouts channel: Quote For those of you having issues with the cutoff HBUI in VR: It is an issue with the DCS VR implementation and an unfortunate combination of graphic settings. You can fix it either by selecting "use dcs internal resolution" in your VR settings or using our special options if u dont want to do that. It is described further in this sections of our manual: https://f4.manuals.heatblur.se/dcs/special_options.html#hb-ui Still, this doesn't really work. The controls are all but intuitive, the "window" where this items can get rendered is "fixed" in the world, and the HB offset only moves the ITEMS inside the container, which, when centered, make the manual an other items disappear. The 'container' (the area where this overlaid layers can be rendered) is, for me (Quest 3 with VD a Ultra and DCS VR multiplier at 1) is considerably offset to the left. You can see this by dragging the manual around and seeing where it "stops" rendering and disappears behind this boundary (which I'm calling window). When setting the manual resolution to around 1100 x 800, I get the round wheel PLUS (and this is important, because they were originally not rendering) the ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS that Jester makes like Alignment and Flight Height, Fuel status, etc. Once this is offset around 300px to the right, I get the wheel centered, but the manual is now clipped by default and needs to be repositioned. My biggest complaint is... Why is this "container" or "boundary" positioned like that and why does it have this "fixed" size which makes no sense and renders the content very poorly (no where near the capabilities of the headset). It also ends almost at the top level of the radar window, which sub-utilices almost half of the available field of view. It has been a very, very frustrating few hours just battling with this. Once in the air, the F4 is a dream to fly and feels like a "real airplane". The Jester wheel and manual placement needs almost rewriting for the ground up, in my opinon. Zabuzard Posted May 22, 2024 Posted May 22, 2024 The UI being cutoff is a DCS VR bug that also affects other UI elements such as the chat window or the VOIP controls. It happens when you force DCS to render the 2d mirror on too low resolutions. Which happens when you select LEFT or RIGHT EYE in the VR options and then don't have the "Use DCS resolution" box checked. You can fix the issue by selecting this checkbox and restarting DCS (don't forget to restart the game). The 2d window will now render at your normal 2d resolution and the UI wont be cutoff anymore. If for whatever reason you do not want to do this, you have to wait for ED to fix it, but can in the meantime play with our Resolution Override and Offset settings to get the UI at least back in the view (but then not properly centered anymore). For people with multi-monitor setups, it can happen that the system detects the incorrect resolution and then misplaces/scales the UI. It wont be cutoff though. In these cases, playing with said special options should do the trick. 2

This doesn't really solve the problem, or we are lacking some controls. I described the "additional" problems this brings in a different topic, as it appears to be a different thing: https://forum.dcs.world/topic/349241-vr-boundary-in-which-jester-wheel-and-manual-get-rendered-is-fixed-in-3d-space-and-size/?do=getNewComment I'm Dragon in the Multiplayer servers.
[zcd]dARKtROOPER Posted May 22, 2024 Posted May 22, 2024 (edited) I could move it when i basically put my nose on it, so that i can get the focus on that window and just move it into view. *Edit> as stated i also just cranked the resolution of the 2D Settings up in DCS. But all the good stuf in there is so amazing i actually forgott this displacement totally in the last hours / what absolute nice job HB *all the missions and details are blowing me away! Ok, I did more testing... this is "almost" true... the problem is that: you still need a certain minimum resolution set to the 2D window (which, for everything else, you don't) So, if you have set your window to 1200x800 or something really low to save on resources, the wheel will still be cut-off. So there is a "minimum" screen resolution, which means you are still relying on fixed sizes and pixels available, instead of rendering "inside" that container. I'm Dragon in the Multiplayer servers.
jbucholz Posted May 23, 2024 Posted May 23, 2024 For me, no matter what I force the UI resolution too, I can't see any of the UI on the right half of my VR screen. So my wheel has to be very small and contained to the left side. The Tomcat jester wheel works just fine. This "work around" is not acceptable.
RafaPolit Posted May 23, 2024 Posted May 23, 2024 Have you changed the RESOLUTION of the 2D screen (main settings pane) to something like 1920x1080 or so? VR users usually have that set to "as small as possible" for Headsets that use USB or WiFi connections, and that is messing up with the display. With that and no UI resolution settings (+ the check that Zabuzard mentioned) did it for me for the time being. I'm Dragon in the Multiplayer servers.
kraze Posted May 24, 2024 Posted May 24, 2024 (edited) I'm on Quest Pro and the key is basically to set UI size override to whatever window size is shown on your desktop However I do have another issue. Not only the wheel isn't centered horizontally (which may be fixed by trial and error with an offset), but it also is not centered vertically, so it appears above my center of view, making it unusable with head movement, but at least my HOTAS has enough hats to help with that. Bri01 Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 Kind of a joke. All the testing and one of new things (Jester) is mostly invisible and not usable. I've tried supposed fix, which did nothing. also tried every resolution and offset. I give up. 1

However did you try setting the resolution of an actual window on the desktop when you are in VR? E.g. if you desktop resolution is, say 1920x1080 - and there is DCS running in a window which takes, say, 1280x720 pixels - did you input the window resolution as HB UI override resolution?
