hitman Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 Im trying to export a video in high quality 1440x900 resolution without sacrificing video quality and trying to keep the video size down. All the videos I make come out either way too big or the resolution is just nasty. I know how to set the resolution up, however the lines in the movie come out all jagged, so the resolution looks like crap. I tried using MPEG2 high quality 1920x1050 (or something like that) and its crap. Im trying multiple combos and Im not getting what I want. Whats the best video format for my preferred video resolution? Its a 7 minute video rendered at 1680x1050, currently uncompressed at 12gbs large. Im trying to knock it down to 500mbs or less. 1
Peyoteros Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 (edited) Dude, you don't need that big resolution... Things, which you see on TV are in 800x600 in 4:3 aspect and 960x600 for the wide screen aspect 16:9. Trust me, you don't need to go any higer than that. Gives you a discent quality and reasonable file size. Try it! Goood luck. P.S. there are some good video compresors which can squize 1.5GB in to 120MB without noticible quality loss. hitman Posted April 25, 2009 Author Posted April 25, 2009 No ones watching these videos on tv, I would like them at at least 1280x960 for high definition monitors.
crazysundog Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 Have you tried (or can you use) the newest Xvid codec? I know I use it to compress my Fraps vids when using V-Dub...although it doesnt compress THAT much.
hitman Posted April 25, 2009 Author Posted April 25, 2009 Tried xVid...it keeps hanging on me no matter how much I try to use it.
Xjikz Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 When I make games movies, I make capture from fraps in 1280*1024, edit with Vegas, then I generate the final movie in 1280*1024 without any compression (so I generally have a very big file) then I compress with "Windows Media Encoder" which is very good compression and quality ratio. Choose settings to the best quality and encode the file. You don't need to worry about lots of settings, it just makes the job and your movie is fine !
