Lace Posted May 23, 2024 Posted May 23, 2024 In almost any situation, on any map and flying any module, my frame rate is locked at 40, and I am CPU bound. The DCS menus are locked at a solid 80fps. It has been like this for some time, and changing graphics settings seems to make little difference, only increasing or decreasing the stutters, but never the FPS. I have a laptop 3080 and a Rift S. I have 120 set in the DCS frame rate limiter setting, and have disabled the FPS limiter in the Nvidia control panel. Is there another setting somewhere which could be causing this? Is there something in the Oculus config which might cause it? Laptop Pilot. Alienware X17, i9 11980HK 5.0GHz, 16GB RTX 3080, 64GB DDR4 3200MHz, 2x2TB NVMe SSD. 2x TM Warthog, Hornet grip, Virpil CM2 & TPR pedals, Virpil collective, Cougar throttle, Viper ICP & MFDs, pit WIP (XBox360 when traveling). Quest 3S. Wishlist: Tornado, Jaguar, Buccaneer, F-117 and F-111.

It is smoother than not reaching the target refresh but adds movement blurring and ghosting. You can toggle the settings using these keys: CTRL+KP1 - Disable ASW and USE ATW CTRL+KP2 - Force apps to 45hz, DISABLE ASW CTRL+KP3 - Force apps to 45hz, ENABLE ASW CTRL+KP4 - Enable ASW to operate PC specs: 9800x3d - rtx5080 FE - 64GB RAM 6000MHz - 2Tb NVME - (for posts before March 2025: 5800x3d - rtx 4070) - VR headsets Quest Pro (Jan 2024-present; Pico 4 March 2023 - March 2024; Rift s June 2020- present). If not I can find an external keyboard to plug in. Laptop Pilot. You can also use oculus tray tool to change settings and set your own keybinds. https://www.apollyonvr.com/oculus-tray-tool I bind these to HOTAS buttons then I can easily toggle settings while flying. You can get a big performance boost with fixed Foveated rendering. The rift s is not so sharp at the edges anyway so you can keep a high res in the centre and lower res at the edges. Try Quad Views Foveated Rendering. https://github.com/mbucchia/Quad-Views-Foveated PC specs: 9800x3d - rtx5080 FE - 64GB RAM 6000MHz - 2Tb NVME - (for posts before March 2025: 5800x3d - rtx 4070) - VR headsets Quest Pro (Jan 2024-present; Pico 4 March 2023 - March 2024; Rift s June 2020- present). Lace Posted May 24, 2024 Author Posted May 24, 2024 Tried this last night, and indeed, a single simple keypress resulted in an almost 50% improvement in frame rates. It's amazing how many of these little details seem completely lost to the average user. Many thanks @Qcumber, I owe you a beer. 2 Laptop Pilot.
