Legioneod Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 Does the F-4E have a ram air turbine modeled for when you lose power? I noticed when I run out of fuel or lose power I am unable to control the aircraft at all even when going above 200+ mph (I think, have to double check the speed)

Zabuzard Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 Ok wasn't sure. Strange that they didn't have them as earlier phantoms did.It has an auxiliary hydraulic backup unit though (confusingly called APU), which ensures that one can at least retain somewhat of a (very limited) control during full engine loss. 1
Zabuzard Posted May 27, 2024 Posted May 27, 2024 Fun fact, the backup hydraulic requires power... So it happens to also be offline on a full engine loss, rip.
Alpha Posted May 27, 2024 Posted May 27, 2024 (edited) @Zabuzard: Just to clarify: Your version of the F-4E doesn´t have the APU, does ist? Because I tried finding the APU Test-Switch left of the left Throttle for real-world startup procedure (you always want to check the APU right after getting external Power) and there isn´t any (or I was completely blind, which is a possibility). Super Grover Posted May 27, 2024 Posted May 27, 2024 It's a Schrödinger's APU. It will be there, but not yet. You'd never know unless you tried finding it. But seriously, some F-4E had APU, and some did not. We decided that our version would eventually have it, but it didn't make it into the EA version. Although, technically, this is still a missing feature, it's not unrealistic. Krzysztof Sobczak Heatblur Simulations https://www.facebook.com/heatblur/
