gulredrel Posted May 28, 2024 Posted May 28, 2024 (edited) Hello, don't know if this is a known issue or intended. I noticed for the second time that F-4 Jester can visual ID targets at about 10 nm. As the current F-4 does not have the TISEO(?) camera I don't think he should be able to tell the type of plane at about 10 nm. Or could you spot an Il-76 at 10 nm distance? Cobra847 Posted May 28, 2024 Posted May 28, 2024 This is based size; so yes, in perfect conditions and a very large aircraft he can spot it at the max range. Are you finding this with smaller aircraft currently? Nicholas Dackard Founder & Lead Artist Heatblur Simulations https://www.facebook.com/heatblur/
gulredrel Posted May 28, 2024 Author Posted May 28, 2024 Thanks Cobra for the quick reply. I now got a call for 13 nm for the Il-76 after locking it. null Looking on a 2D screen it's way harder. Must say, real life you could identify a passenger plane at 10000m(?) with no problem from the ground. But this would translate to 6 nm(?). Maybe 10 to 13 nm is a bit far? No big deal and maybe something to discuss with SMEs or real world pilots later. Haven't tried with smaller planes yet.
