PluckyUnderdog Posted June 1, 2024 Posted June 1, 2024 (edited) First, let me preface this by saying all of Reflected's compaigns are brilliant, I own them all, they're a class apart from other paid campaigns, in my opinion. My criticism is about AAR. More specifically, I can't do it. I'm not new to DCS, not a learner, I know what I'm doing, I am reasonably proficient in most of the modules. But it's just too difficult for me. And one thing I'm not a fan of in say the Speed and Angels campaign is the AAR, and the insistence that it be done, or it impacts on the score. I end up skipping the mission to move on to the next one. And it kind of makes me feel like an idiot for not being able to do it. But I accept, that's on me. It's incredibly frustrating and annoying to me when I do set aside time to practice (believe me, I've practiced A LOT over the years) and I can't. Doesn't matter what aircraft. And it puts a dampner on a brilliant campaign, for me. Happy to take criticism/feedback etc, exept if anyone's going to be moronic and say things like 'It's easy' or 'well don't buy the campaign then' just save your breath. Not interested in hearing it. Thanks. Edited June 1, 2024 by PluckyUnderdog i7 12700, 3070ti, 64GB Orion 2 F16EX grip and throttle, Thrustmaster TPR pedals
unlikely_spider Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 Can you do the formation flying portions though? That's a big part of a couple of the missions, and that's basically the same as AAR. (Maybe harder, since the tanker flies more predictably than the lead) 1 Modules: Wright Flyer, Spruce Goose, Voyager 1
MAXsenna Posted June 13, 2024 Posted June 13, 2024 Do you have the Su-33 (comes with the Super Carrier)? It's by far the easiest to learn the drogue IMHO as long as you line up correctly. You can lock onto the tanker with IRST and the and the HUD will show you if you are slow or fast. The lights on the Russian tanker will also give you indications. I'm only suggesting this to get a better feel for it.Cheers! Sent from my SM-A536B using Tapatalk
Dragon1-1 Posted July 17, 2024 Posted July 17, 2024 Honestly, if you can get anything above unsat on formation flying, AAR shouldn't be that much of a problem. The tanker does not have the ridiculous roll rate you have to somehow keep up with. Also, try practicing in the IA mission. The S-3 tanker is hard. Better learn on something like KC-135MPRS in the IA mission, then you should be able to plug into the S-3 well enough for the mission to accept that. Ideally, practice on KC-135, then move onto S-3 (not sure if there's a pre-made mission where you can quickly jump to it) and then do the 2nd mission. You have to fly a tight formation and fit in the tight box behind the S-3, which isn't easy, but it's doable. 1
