Quite frequently, i notice a massiv FPS drop - from down to 20FPS to even lower 1-2 FPS - obviously caused by the radar.

As soon as it turns on, e.g. during takeoff, my game starts a slidehow, then after approx. 5 seconds, everything´s back to normal.  Same while cruising at altitude, doing nothing besides cloud surfing: FPS drop to 1-2 for some seconds, then back up again, leaving myself wondering behind those ray-bans "wtf?".

This issue seems to occur every now and then during any flight, any map and any environmental condition - single and multiplayer. Only with the F4E and only with radar active.

Turning the radar OFF resolves it for now. No drops, no stuttering.

Atm i have no clue what may cause this, i just fly without radar for now (If only jester would NOT turn it on automatically after takeoff....).

Any ideas what could be the issue here ? Anyone having similar experiences ?

When in doubt - climb. Nobody ever collided with air.

Haven't experienced it myself but have you tried to tick the reduced sim rate in F4 special options?

Perhaps try a full DCS repair If it persists.

What kind of CPU / RAM are you running on?

HB have stated there will be CPU optimisation improvements for the radar in the next patch.

Currently using 64GB on a 6700K, combined with a 3070GPU

I own all maps and almost all airframes, no issues anywhere, not even on high demanding maps. Since this is an issue ONLY with the F4E radar operation, i have so far not thought about the specs being a factor...

Yes but the F-4’s radar implementation is the most advanced one we have so far in DCS (as far as I understand), and to be fair your CPU is quite old.

It is 🙂

Hasn´t had a struggle since, part of why it´s still doing a great job. Guess i´ll wait for optimization before i start building a new PC.

Sort of ancient CPU by todays standards and as previous user stated the F-4 Radar simulation is probably among the best sofar and likely pushing that quad core way beyond its limits. Have you tried the 15E?

F15E works just perfect. Whatever radar mode i use here, nothing impacts performance on a noticeable level. Another reason i wasn´t conviced the CPU would bottleneck here, but from what you wrote i understand it just might.

I remember even my 5800x3d chugging for the first 1-2 sweeps in ground mapping mode when it was newly released 🙂

Yeah that was quite a thing, i remember 🙂

Thx for the data - kind of tells me it´s not just on my end 🙂

Weird, I have no issues with 5800x3d & 6800XT. Using process Lasso or similar to only use P-cores?

*edit* what if you try at 1080p or even 720p?

Alot of incoming performance improvements along with other fixed in the upcoming patch, read below. Hopefully it will help you some!
