wraith76 Posted June 7, 2024 Posted June 7, 2024 Hi All, I'm trying to get back into Quest 3 VR and DCS. I hooked up my quest 3 using Meta Quest Link App Version 65.0.0.499.343 (65.0.0.499.343) and launched DCS. While in DCS World MT I enabled the Use VR option and restarted DCS. Now DCS will not start. The game attepmts to start but never makes it past the Nvidia Logo. Other games work fine with the Link setup just not DCS. I'd appreciate any help. I'm using or have: Latest Nvidia Drivers Meta Quest Link App Version 65.0.0.499.343 (65.0.0.499.343) Windows 11 fully updated i9-14900KF DDR5 64GB memory 4000MHZ I also have other tools installed such as: OpenXR toolkit Occulus Debug tool
Phantom711 Posted June 8, 2024 Posted June 8, 2024 Are you sure, your Meta PC App is set as the OpenXR runtime? vCVW-17 is looking for Hornet and Tomcat pilots and RIOs. Join the vCVW-17 Discord.
wraith76 Posted June 8, 2024 Author Posted June 8, 2024 (edited) Hi Phantom Yea It's def set to runtime. I threw in the towel and did a full reinstall which fixed the problem. I tested this morning and I was reminded how much of a quality dip you have to accept when using VR. I'll probably just stick to my trackir for now. Thank you for the response. We are always trying to get better graphics in VR, but we really do it for the immersion and then we soon forget about the graphics. When I turn my head and look out the cockpit, I really feel like I'm in the cockpit. I pretty much can't read or see the small details even with a 14900kf, 3080ti, DDR5 64BG 6000MHz, and a Metaquest 3. For once I just want to launch the game and play without struggling to read the MFDs and Gauges as well as troubleshooting studders, frame drops etc.

The gauges are not always perfect, but I really don't struggle with it like I did with the G2. Maybe you need RX inserts? But also, I am pretty old school player starting with an Atari 800 and Strike Eagle and don't really expect as much as others may. It's really hard to say as I know what my VR looks like, but not yours or anyone's because we really can't show the quality of VR in a 2D world. My tolerance level may be different than yours, and that's OK so enjoy the 2D.
